Clearing Cache
-
if you are using IE:1) goto tools2)goto internet options3) clear history
-
That is not correct. To clear the cache, you need to click on the Delete Files button. In the dialog box that pops up. click on the Delete all offline content box, then click OK.If you leave Active X enabled in that piece of crap browser, you leave your system very vulnerable to attack. Unfortanately, some Web sites that you might care about use it.(It would have been useful if the original poster had specified which Web browser he is using.)

do yourself a favor http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ trust me you will like it much better the IE and its good aganst abunch of crap
-
I already do. But you still need to know how to set up Javascript in Firefox to make this site tolerable.
-
"tolerable" you mean fast? i have no prob with it and i havnt set any thing up
-
I mean not having the Web site mess with your windows (resizing them and moving them around). Those are Javascript functions. In Firefox, under advanced Javascript options, I disable:o Move or resize existing windowso Raise or lower windowso Hide the status bar
-
ahh ok im not to farmiliar with browser settings
-
Go to tools -> options, then in the left margin click on Web Features. At the bottom of the list there will be a box to Enable Javascript (which I assume you have checked). To the right of that, click on Advanced and set it up the way I specified, or however you like. Or don't do anything at all, if you're happy with the way things are already working.

Thanks for all the info guys, such a simple procedure to forget lol

or you can tweak a firewall to where 3rd party apps and ad servers don't mess with your computer at all (for this site anyway). You're probably better off doing this to keep unwanted software out.
-
That's why I use Norton Internet Security. It seems to do an adequate job, but it is a big resource hog. I just got the 2005 version, free after a discount and two rebates and free shipping (well, I did have to pay sales tax). Last year I got the 2004 version at Costo, where I actually came out slightly ahead after three rebates.
-
I'm running McAfee firewall 2004. I didn't bother installing anything else with it because I reloaded my computer and my year subscription ran out. But with just that, you can easily keep popups from re-occuring by pinging the ad server and banning the IP address range it's coming from. Plus, I run Microsoft Antispyware Beta and Adaware SE often.
-
The current version of NIS has spyware and adware scanning (I don't know how good it is...I still run Spybot and Ad-Aware once a week). It also has ad blocking and popup blocking. Firefox also has popup blocking (I had to make an exeption to allow them for one site), and it can be set to filter out advertising images. It has a good list...I just added one or two sites to the banned list, and it works well.

I use Mozilla 1.7.11 and it works great. a2a is usually filled with pop-ups, but with a couple adjustments to the firewall it's good cruising.
-
yea i havnt got one pop up
-
Nor I.
