yea, go to a store and buy it.

It's called Microsoft Office. You can buy it at nearly any computer/electronics retailer.I believe you can also purchase it online direct from M$.Either way, it's expensive.

I was lucky enough to get an open copy that was suplied too a friend of a friend's company for evaluation. It's only 2000 so it's out of date but it works for my home purposes.Check with any of your friends that work in a corporate environment. You might be able to score the same deal.

Heh, I work for a gov't institution. I picked up Office 2003 pro for $54 last time.

YOu need to ask if it can be downloaded? Welcome to the internet.

What ever happened to the good ol' days when it came with Microsoft?
-
Office never came packaged with Windows. Sometimes you could get Works bundled with it, but Office has always been it's own product.

There is also the free (and cross platform) version of Star Office called Open Office.org (yes, that's the whole name of the product. And, wonder of wonders, you can get it at www.openoffice.org1.1.x is the official release, but they're getting ready to go live with v2.0. I have a preview release of 2.0 on my SuSE laptop, and it's great.

In reply to: WRITER can of course read all your old Microsoft Word documents, or save your work in Microsoft Word format for sending to people who are still locked into Microsoft products.Hey, that's pretty cool...good find. A math equation editor is part of the suite...very nice.
