What the hell language was that written in? Unless you're sending this in from a cell phone keyboard, how about if you write in English?

How is it that you're from a non-native-English-speaking country, and your English is impeccable, and so many people from the U.S. and U.K. can barely write their own name?To answer the IMer's question, I'd say, since this is your first date, don't worry about "making a move." See how it goes and take it from there. Do you think there's an obligation to do sexual stuff on the first date?Unless you're talking about mutual masturbation, it would have been better to put this in the Relationship forum rather than the masturbation forum.

"Snog" doesn't usually refer to sexual stuff - it usually just means kissing (perhaps with tongue) and cuddling. So I think lazykid123 is asking if he should take the initiative in that type of activity. I would say: yes, but take it slowly and read the body language carefully, and if she doesn't seem to like it, back off.

I was relying on a translation of regional idomatic English that's foreign to me, rendered in IM-speak, translated to standard English by a (presumably) non-native speaker of English...kind of funny, when you think about it. As to what I said.....never mind. i agre wit u.

IM-speak will be the death of standard English.
-
Lol, It's not too easy to read what he says. I prefer standard english myself, eventhough I tend to forget capital letters and comma's etc. :/ p.s I didn't translate snog cause I never heard of it before. :P
-
ok my bad i will write properly and will not use the txt talk lol i didnt no that it was really that bad
-
:sunglasses: just go for it *reminices back to when used to use the word snog-bad school discos*

Part of the problem is that "snog" is a British colloquialism, unfamiliar to Americans, though it's of fair antiquity, going back at least as far as my youth.I don't think IM-speak will be the death of English. These abbreviations were common all over the Net when it started, and look, people on message boards all over the place are insisting on standard English. I've read Dorothy Sayers inveighing against "telegraphese" as the death of English, and her ink was hardly dry when it died itself.

One of my mates (real computer geek in his 40s, made a fortune from PCs in the 1980s and another fortune in the 1990s) was telling me that up until the late 1990s, he always used "net speak" when he was online (he's been online since 1981 apparently) but doesn't bother these days because the only people who understand it properly are computer geeks over the age of 40 and people under the age of 25.
