i remeber posting about 3 months back that sometimes in the morning i would have some kind of cramp, and now I think I might know what was causing it. I checked the doc, and he told me to take a bowel sample and in a week i got the results. A small ulcer or bacteria called H.pylori was present. Im not sure if any of you know what this bacteria is, but apprently a decent % of people have it. The doc gave me a prescription for antibiotics, and now i have to eat 8 pills per day~!. Rumours say that people get this H.Pylori into your body due to dirty material or bacteria getting inside your body; ie: eating. Now if thats true, and if I do clear up the bactiera inside of me, then wouldnt I have a chance of it coming back over and over again? For more information you can check out: http://www.cdc.gov/ulcer/md.htm#symptomsThanks

Helicobacter pylori!!
-
How do you get rid of it? That what the antibiotics are for.
-
This is a bacterium that causes ulcers. Most of the time the immune system can stop it getting a foothold - stressed people tend to get it more, because their immune systems don't work as well. If you keep your stress levels at normal, the chances are you won't get it again.

thanks for the info. Earlier today as i went to get my antibiotics, the pharacist told me it kills around 99 or 90% of the bacteria, but thats not 100, so wouldnt that mean that 1% will reproduce and start over again right away? And damn stress, although im not completely sure if i am.. but Im always having to sigh once in awhile still~!

Maybe. A culture seems like a good idea.

The discovery that ulcers are caused by bacteria and are effectively treated by certain antibiotics was only made around 15-20 years ago, and there are still doctors who are unaware of it.
-
hmmm so i woke up this morning and had a very loose bowel movement, im guesing its cause of the antibiotics tho.
I read from some person who has been studying HP for years [apparently] and I read on his post:
"I would take the anti biotics if I knew they killed off HP 100% but there is more and more evidence that it does not and once you have taken one particular anti-biotic for HP it is useless taking it again as HP has become immune to it. So you could spend the rest of your life trying different combination anti biotic treatments and completely mess up your immune system. Surely, logically it is best to treat HP únless a 100% cure is found with non antibiotic treatments as the people with HP are already úsing their immune systems to keep the búg at bay. If the immune system is weakened the bugs would be able to multiply at a rapid rate." ]
Im not sure if what he said was true..
-
Well, antibiotics don't weaken your immune system.

The discovery that ulcers are caused by bacteria and are effectively treated by certain antibiotics was only made around 15-20 years ago, and there are still doctors who are unaware of it.I got a Merck manual as a gift in the mid-90's (from circa 1990, just before the new edition came out). In the version I had, there was no mention of heliobacter pylori under "stomach ulcers", but it was mentioned in the next version that came out ca. 1995.As far as I know, a lot of people's stomach ulcers have been permantly cured by taking a course of antibiotics.

Ok, well i just finished all my 56 antibiotics pilss, but however this morning i just woke up with the kinda sharp pain again when i inhale. I also remeber my doc saying your problem might still be present for another 2 weeks after my medications. But I thought antibiotics would react right away....? Im confused now, cause he told me I didnt have to go back to him and just said the problem should be cured... so im dont know now.. anyone>?

The antibiotic kill bacteria. It doesn't repair the damage that the bacteria caused. If the diagnosis was correct and all went well with the treatment, your body still needs time to heal.
-
thanks 4 the reply. So in another way i prob have killed the bacteria but i still recovering..? Cause i dont know if I should go to the doc even though my parents + the doc said it wasnt nesscary..
-
Sounds like you should give it some more time. If you still don't feel right then, call the doctor. You or your parents should ask the doctor how long to wait before calling.Of course if you feel really bad, you should call the doctor.

yeah thats the thing, i dont really have any symtoms. . . and im not 100% sure its related to the sharp pains i sometimes have. The doc just told me to take a bowel test which i did and a week later he said i had some minor H.pylori attack and he told me take the medications. Dunno, lets see how things turn out
