In reply to:In contrast to traditional progestagen-only pills, the contraceptive effect of CERAZETTE is achieved primarily by inhibition of ovulation as has been concluded from ultrasound monitoring of the ovaries and from the absence of both the midcycle LH-peak and an increase of luteal progesterone.____________________________________POP - progesten-only pillCOC - combined oral contraceptive (estrogen and progestin)progestogen - UK-ish for progestinHormonal Contraception – Progestin Only Pill:In reply to:The failure rate [of the POP] is slightly higher with a method failure rate of 0.5% compared with 0.1% for the COC. This is the percentage of unintended pregnancies in the first year of use. However, user failure rate pushes both up to 5%.reference: Trussell, J. (2004) Contraceptive efficacy.
