I am 13, and I weigh about 180 lbs. I found the awesomeness of the Dorito at age 5 so I didn't know what eating right back then was. I want to lose weight because everyone makes fun of me and I don't preform well in physical stuff other than dodgeball. I am embarrased during swimming, etc, because of my unathleticness. I've changed my diet. I eat soups, salads, wheat bread, I've changed to skim milk, I don't drink much soda, and I don't touch chips anymore. I would say that I eat healthier than I did awhile ago, and I could say that I've lost a couple of pounds since my change to skim milk, (I'm a heavy milk drinker, no pun intended) but I'm still large. Is there anything that can augment the diet change (ie exercises that don't take alot of room) or any advice you could give me?

Start walking/jogging. Also stop drinking soda all together.

Bro, you are in the same boat as I was at 13. I'm 20 now. But I was a soda-aholic, and the same weight as you. It took me until age 17 to finally do something about it. You realized this early, which is awesome, If you take this serious you could be the fittest kid in school before you graduate from high school. Because not many at your age are motivated to lose weight. All you need to do is a few basic things which should change you completely:-Start with walking, maybe home from school if you're within a couple miles from home. If not, when I was fat, I went running at night so I wouldn't be embarressed, or early in the mornings before anyone was up. I also bought a treadmill so I wouldn't have to worry about that stuff.I remember one time, about 16-17, I was riding bike home, trying to lose a few pounds; and this girl I went to school with said a lot of mean things and pointed and laughed as she drove by in her car (she was a total nutcase so I didn't really care). Needless to say, that got me going, I really haven't looked back since, and I bet you now that she wishes that she could have me I get so much enjoyment out of running for miles now and showing off my bod, because I always think of times like that when people can be a-holes. So... hopefully anything like that hasn't happened to you, but I'm sure, being heavy and all - it has. Use it to fuel you to lose weight, and start walking; eventually step up to running for about 15 minutes at the least, 30 minutes would be excellent. Don't eat anything 2 hours or more before you run (because then you would just be burning the meal off, instead of the fat).Drink water like it was some kind of magic potion, because it is Drink all that you can, drink it all.No soda/pop at all, even the caffeine-free ones, even the low carb ones, nothing. It still is carbonated and has acid and other bad stuff in it!Switch your soda intake with Green Tea - it's amazing how much it helps (I'm drinking some right now actually)If you do splurge in junk food, eat a lot of anti-oxidants after words to help protect your good body cells (found in lettuce, carrots, green tea, etc)Make your meals smaller, but eat more (like instead of 3 meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - change it to 5 or 6 smaller portioned ones) You'll digest the food faster instead of piling it all up at once. That's the very basics for losing weight, I hope it will work for you, the most important thing is don't go overkill and burn yourself out from this. Take it with ease and gradually get more into working out. Don't stress

very very very very simpleeat less then you burn, you could be on a all krispy kreme donuts diet and still lose weight, just eat less calories then you burn
-
Eat a good breakfast with cereal, fruit and juice. Studies have shown that girls who eat breakfast every morning are thinner than those who do not. Also, start jogging or join a sports team.

one of the best diets i have seen is still counting calories. i am 15 and thank god i have a fast metabolism and can eat everything in sight and not gain an ounce. anyway, for you i would try to eat between 1500-2000 calories a day. try to jog every day and im sure you will be fine. heck i lost 10 pounds myself just playing baseball.
