Many years ago I was diagnosed with a spastic colon which now adays I believe is referred to as IBS. It doesn't bother me much any more but every once in awhile it flairs up. And now seems to be the time. But this seems a bit different than in the past. About a month ago I noticed I felt 'different' in my lower intestinal area. Didn't hurt--I was just aware of it. Then, about 10-14 days ago I started in with the diarrhea. Not bad at first but the past 4 or 5 days it's really been bad. 10-14 movements a day. INTENSE pressure to where I almost can't get to the bathroom in time. Anytime I put food into my stomach it would cause the diarreha to get going again. One thing that has me worried is this. On 2 occassions I've suddenly had to go like right now. But by the time I can get to the bathroom some of the liquid has spilled over to and comes out my urethra (spelling?). In other words it comes out where I would normally urinate. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I really do not want a colonoscopy done so I'm reluctant to go to the doctor to ask these questions unless I absolutely have to. I am doing a treatment I was given by my doctor 20 years ago and it is helping somewhat and I look for the problem to get better slowly. But the part where it came out where I urinate has me worried. So far through all this I was feeling ok otherwise. But yesterday and today I am weak and tired and my brain doesn't want to work. I lost 6 pounds in one week due to this. Can anyone help me with my question?Thank you.

Is this normal?

Is this normal? No! This is not even close to normal. You never disclosed your age or gender. I assume you're male.In reply to:I was given by my doctor 20 years agoWhen was the last time you saw a doctor and discussed your bowel issues? In reply to:Then, about 10-14 days ago I started in with the diarrhea. Anytime I put food into my stomach it would cause the diarreha to get going again. And you haven't seen your doctor? That is completely unnacceptable. I would hope that you are under the care of a gastroenterologist. Chronic diarrhea has a bad effect on the body: there is a tendency to get dehydrated, and you lose electrolytes. You also put a lot of wear and tear on your rear end.I just want to make sure this is clear: A week of diarrhea is not acceptable. Have you been taking anything at all for it, like Lomotil (prescription) or Immodium? In reply to:But by the time I can get to the bathroom some of the liquid has spilled over to and comes out my urethraThis is highly unlikely, but if you have a communication between your bowel and some part of your urinary tract, then you are in the midst of a medical emergency. It's more likely that all of the pressure caused by having bowel movements is causing some of the accumulated semen to be pushed out. But that you think what you describe is a possibility, and you haven't sought medical attention, makes my head spin.In reply to:I really do not want a colonoscopy done so I'm reluctant to go to the doctor to ask these questions unless I absolutely have to.You have the right to disallow whatever tests you don't want. But you sure don't sound qualified to decide what tests you need. May they'll want to do a C/T scan. Maybe x-rays. Maybe neither. In reply to:Can anyone help me with my question? The only reasonable advice anyone here can give you is to see your doctor. If you are as sick as you sound and you're posting to a message board for advice, you are getting seriously disconnected from reality. Make a doctor appointment right now. You are clearly afraid to see the doctor, and I sympathize, but you have to do what you have to do. A week of diarrhea is a serious condition.

Well Bud I 100% agree with SteveA, Please make yourself a Doctor's Appointment.
A colonoscopy is nothing to even worry about. They have you so drugged you won't remember a thing. I had one about 2 years ago and I still don't remember anything and it's not even an issue. If they said I needed another one, I'd have no worries.
Seriously see a doctor. Waiting for things to get better is only going to cause you more damage. So Take Care of yourself and do the right thing by calling your doctor.
