Grrr is this a bad thing?:(

Your blood pressure is low. When you get up too fast, your head goes up, but the blood tends to stay down. Solution: get up more slowly. In any case, low blood pressure is better than high. The sustained ringing in your ears is harder to explain. Do you still have it if you lie down flat?
-
i dunno, its gone now lol. Ill get back with you on that:) So, can this blood problem have any long term health effects? Or just stop oxygen from getting to the brain? thx:)
-
It won't hurt you. The only issue is that if you get up too fast and fall over, you can hurt yourself. Like I said, just be happy that you don't have high blood pressure.

ok then. Thanks again for the advice:D

Ummm...as much as I hate to contradict Steve (who is phenomenally well informed on many subjects and talks a lot of sense) low blood pressure can be serious in some extreme cases. In your case, it's probably nothing but if these symptoms continue, you should see a doctor just for reassurance but it's almost certainly nothing to really worry about The sounds in your ears may be tinnitus. Nobody really knows what causes this but constant exposure to loud sound (do you attend pop concerts regularly or listen to a personal stereo with the volume way up?) is known to be a major contributing factor. Tinnitus is not a serious problem physiologically but for those unfortunate people who have to live with it for decades, it can lead to real depression.Again I'll say that in your case, it's probably nothing but if the symptoms do persist see a doctor just to make sure

You'll get no argument from me. In fact, feel free to disagree. But if your blood pressure is that low, you'll probably notice symptoms at times other than when you get out of a chair or a bed quickly. The way to solve the mystery is to take your blood pressure, or have someone take it for you. Drug stores usually have sit-down blood pressure measuring things near the pharmacy counter.
If you do have chronically low blood pressure, increasing your salt intake is an effective way to deal with it (a cardiologist once told me).
As far as the tinnitis is concerned, I also had pretty low blood pressure (it's on the good side of normal now), and when I'd get up really fast, I'd notice a few-seconds-long blackout effect, often accompanied by ear ringing that would last for maybe half a minute. It's hard to describe, but it sounded kind of like a tone. -
In reply to: Drug stores usually have sit-down blood pressure measuring things near the pharmacy counter. At the one in our local Wal*mart, my blood pressure read normal... but I apparently had no heart beat.

You don't need a heartbeat to shop at WalMart, so they disable the pulse rate feature.
-
Oh, good, I thought I had died. But it's also nice to know that even if I had died, I could've still shopped there.

lol that is EXACTLY what i experiance:) its good to know im not the only one... btw, usually i try to take my BP at wal-mart, but my arm is too small for the little.... squeezy thingy...
anywho, thanks agian for the help guys:) i really appreciate ir heh. *sorry for all the typos, i have bandaids on all my fingers....* -
i actually have the same problem, i went to the doctor about it who told me it was fairly common if your going through puberty etc also she said because i was quite tall and slim, the reason why i feel faint when i stand up is because, my blood doesnt have enough time to travel up to my brain, therefore i feel faint.i've fainted once before, and it was while i was on my period, since i used to have really heavy periods, it could have just been the blood loss my body didnt like.nevertheless i got a blood test to see if i was aneamic, and i wasnt..but maybe you should have one, just to pin point any problems...my situation might be completely different to yours, but i dont think you need to worry too much. i still occasionally get dizzy spells when i stand up, and i havnt fanited again.
-
I agree with the posts that your dizziness is caused by low blood pressure. And for most folks this is a good thing as opposed to high blood pressure. This is common for a lot of folks who are in realy good shape (have several brothers who have had similar and gone to Dr. who told them all OK, just get up slower, was because they were in good shape, their heart beats slower). Also, the ringing in the ears can be caused by the low blood pressure as well.If you haven't had a check up recently, it would be a good idea to go and see your Dr. just to be sure that your OK and things are normal. The ringing and dizzyness could be also caused by a sinus infection or inner ear infection as well, messing up your equilibrium.

I wouldn't worry, as the other posts say, low blood pressure isn't necessarily bad, I have a low blood pressure, but, sometimes, you have to listen to how your own body works, because I have a slow metabolism too, and, a low pulse rate (resting heartbeat: 59 beats per minute) ... it just so happens that this is the way my body has decided to work, I'm average height, a little above average weight, but very fit, it's just one of those bodily things, yes, if it were chornically low, then, time to worry... eat more salts/fatty foods is always a good way of rising your bp, but, for the main part, it's a whole lot healthier to have a low bp than a high one!!

This thread is a year old. I'm sure the original poster has solved her problem by now
