I got to work this morning and before I even got into my office, my phone was ringing. I pick up and it's my wife in hysterics. Turns out at 7:30, 1/2 hour after I dropped the kids off at the bus stop, someone busted through the front door and came into the house. My wife was sleeping downstairs when she heard a crash and the dogs started barking. She yelled out from downstairs thinking it was me. When she heard footsteps run off and the front gate slam shut, she realized that it was a burglar. Nothing was taken because she scared him off, but she was hysterical with fear. Police came and all but not much can be done about it. So now I'm fixing the door and looking into securing the door better. Damn bastard.Has anyone else been in the house when a burglary took place?

Damn Bastards

Sorry to hear what happened! That's horrible! That's a very scary thought to be home alone when someone breaks in.
Something like that would deff force me to get a security system.
-
Really sorry to hear that. Nobody should have to suffer the fear of people violating their property. I'm glad your wife's okay and (although it's not at all likely) I hope they catch whoever it was - it'll be a little comfort in a world which day by day is becoming an increasingly unpleasant place to inhabit.
Nobody should be forced to turn their home into a fortress in order to feel safe.
My house in Southampton has been burgled 4 times in the past 2 years but luckily it's been empty every time. I keep upgrading the security but it's right at the end of a quiet street, set apart from all the other houses and consequently if there's nobody inside, it's an easy target.

had some one break into my dad's truck but i was so little i didn;t really know wut was going on it wasa long time ago.
-
How the hell was it scary for your wife?
She was downstairs, the dogs barked, so she yelled thinking it was you, and heard someone run off?
How is that scary?
-
Blah blah blah blah blah! What the fuck is wrong with you? If you don't like this forum or the people on it, then fuck off! You don't need us and we sure as fuck don't need you. So leave, you're some agro filled teen who has nothing better to do than build up all the shitty feelings from your life, whatever they are (don't confuse this with any kind of caring, nobody gives a fuck about your probelms anymore, being a dick can do that) and take it out on random people on the internet as some anonymous person who you want to be in real life. If you want to do that, go somewhere else, cause nobody will waste their time with you here anymore.Actually, a few people will, but thats just because they have no self control.
-
I'm just asking a simple question, is it that hard to answer? And since you wrote a whole bunch in your post... I take it you have no self-control?
-
Bob has self control.... Its just the fact your an idiot.Someone is invading your personal space.. someone uninvited. Yes. That can be scary. Glad your wife is okay sdp! Hope the punk doesn't come back!
-
He siad that people wouldn't waste time on me, but he spent at least 120 seconds posting his thing, probably longer.
He didn't invade shit ... he walked into the house, was about to say something, he heard voices so the guy punked out ... scary? I think not
-
Buddy, first I have to say that I am sooo happy to hear that it didn't get worse. My greatest phobia is a situation like that where I have no ability to take control. An alarm system is a good deterrant to petty thieves. For that matter, so are dogs (I love dogs!!)I worry about my family when I'm on the road. My wife is afraid of "thunder stcks" so if I'm away, there's noone to pull the trigger.no1, I'm equally sorry to hear about your experience.InSearch, you need something that is actually bad to happen in your life before you appreciate the rest. Please understand, I say that without malace.
-
Yes, you don't know what the guy might have done, and it shows that your home isn't as safe as you'd like to think, and other people might break in in the future. And there's a feeling of being violated.

My grandparents house was broken into when I was still a kid. They held my grandparents hostage along with my aunt, uncle, a third cousin who was mentally handicapped and a couple of other people. It was a scary situation for all.
Last night someone tried to break into my house. I just moved into this place and I've been here less than two weeks and someone tries to break in. I understand how scary it must have been for your wife. This guy didn't get in my house but just the fact that I knew someone was there that didn't belong there was scary enough for me. As a matter of fact I've convinced myself that I want to move back in with my mom and dad. I now have a gun in the house though thanks to my little brother. And my dog is here at the house with me. She barks at anything that moves. I feel a little safer but it still creeps me out. And you're wife is probably not going to be able to sleep for the next few nights so be prepared if she seems restless at night.
-
I'm sory to hear about those instances too. It's not right that some people think they can just fuck people over and take from them. It's one of those things that really makes me angry (I know... long list)

You're right, nothing bad ever happened to me but I'm sure glad to see you laugh for a change!
-
I meant to say my life at the end there"I wonder what it would be like to have something bad happen in my life?"
-
Thank god he ran away!!!!! My friend was in the house when someone broke in, and kinda came face to face with the little shit at the bottom of the stairs. She was terrified, rightly so, and tho he didn't do anything but threaten her, she had to move, she just couldn't live in the house anymore she was so scared it would happen again. She had panic attacks when she was out, and couldn't settle when she was home, she almost had a breakdown. I really feel for your wife, she must have been terrified, the fact that he didn't take anything, will not be a consolation as he still got in!I have never felt safer than when i had my two german shepherds in the house.

Women wuss out very easily.
**Thats cos we know there are plenty of pricks like you around.
Are you telling me that if someone broke into your home while you were there it wouldn't bother you - you wouldn't give a shit right?

Hey all. All's well so far. Wife went to work around noon once her nerves were settled and I stayed home, fixed the door and waited for the kids to come home. I beefed up the stupid panels with some screws so they'd have to literally break the door this time instead of the panels just popping out. The sheriff and the rest of us were amazed at how easily it popped out.Yes Ben, it was scary for her. Yes, someone busted in, got scared and left. The scary part is not knowing. Not knowing how things are going to play out. What should you do? What will happen if you do this or that? This happened 10 minutes before the alarm would go off for her to get up. If it happened a little later she would have been in the shower and not heard anything (although the dogs would but they are tiny Pomeranians less than 4 lbs.. what can they do?) So she potentially could have come face to face with someone.... nude, vulnerable. Would he have tried to rape her? Did the guy have a gun on him? A knife? Was he alone? Of course, the burglar also didn't know who was downstairs . Were there big dogs? A pissed off guy? A person with a gun ready to shoot? So that worked to our advantage that he got scared off. So you asked why it was scary. That's why. Does it seem scary to me? No. Would it have been if I was in her place. Probably.

even you concidering those "worst case scenerios" makes me feel anxious and queezy.Again, I can't over express my releif that it turned out the way it did.
-
Thankfully everything is alright. Just get everything up and running and a good security system will help.
