I don't know why you'd think I'd come down on you for being spoiled> I was spoiled? No! Reread the sentence. It does not say, "You were spoiled, but I'm not going to come down on you for it." It says, "I'm not saying you're spoiled." Perhaps it could have been worded more clearly.> There is always a limit. I am just saying there is nothing wrong with buying your kids something nice if they deserve it.Apparantly a 16-year-old with a $70,000 car doesn't meet the limit. Where do you draw the line between "something nice" and some kind of a bribe, or exercise in overcompensation?> To you maybe.Yeah, to me. And to most well-off and non-well-off people I know. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the way Roc raises his children. But you seem to have lost your anchor to reality. Ask your friends and neighbors if they think it's an excess that a 16-year-old gets a $70,000 car (because it's "safe"). See what they say.

Apparantly a 16-year-old with a $70,000 car doesn't meet the limitExcessive? Maybe. But I also do not live a lifestyle that would permit me to do so. It honestly comes down to what someone can afford. If Roc can afford that for his child, than fine. It's certainly not for me and anyone else to judge.>But you seem to have lost your anchor to realityLoL. Always comes down to be losing my reality with you. what it really comes down to is recognizing Roc lives a different lifestyle financially than you and myself. He can afford to give his children these nice things where you and I cannot. Example (best I can): I hope that when the times comes my child needs a vehicle I hope I can afford to buy it say I 7-10 thousand dollar car that I feel is safe. That's based on my incame that I can afford. Well Roc on the other hand makes much more finanacial than myself and can afford a better quality vehicle that he also deems as safe. It all comes down to financially what someone can afford. Not sure if that makes any sense. Basically Roc is in a totally different financial bracet than most. What he did was finanacial equal to what we can afford at our financial position.

Consider these two separate ideas: Roc is da king, yet a 16-year-old haveing a new $70,000 car is decadent. I can't prove it with a mathematical equation, but I'll bet, if you took a poll, most people would consider it quite excessive.I just wonder where we're at as a nation when a parent thinks it's a bad idea to pay for their child's education (probably the best possible investment there is), yet has no issue purchasing a car that costs as much as what a lot of people take home (in salary) in three years. Something strange is going on here. Interestingly, a car is something that is seen by the neighbors and the folks around town.I live in an area where uneducated people obsess over material things. I'll have to ask around to see what people think.I wonder what a 16-year-old pays for car insurance on a $70,000 car. It sounds like money that would better be put away for college.

>I live in an area where uneducated people obsess over material things
When I live it's the same where. It'll bothers the hell out of me when we see medicaid patients and they are wearing nicer clothing than I can afford. Sure wish I could have a whole closet full of Abercrombie and Fitch or Gap clothing.
Though I do agree, education is a hell of a lot more important than a $70k car. Maybe he wants to give them responsibility for their education. Studies show that kids who have to pay for their own college do better in school than students who parents pay for the schooling. Maybe that has something to do with it. Like my BF's family is wealthy (Should see their house, would make anyone drool) and could easily afford to pay for his schooling but they instead let him pay for it himself.

dude its his fucking business how he raises his children, and what do drugs have to do with it. like those stupid tv ads say "if you talk to your kids about smoking marijuana theyll listen" or however it goes.you can be on welfare and you kids will do drugs or you can be a mulitbillionaire and your kids will do drugs. drugs know no race, income level, or ethnicity, anyone can do them. as long as he educates his kids he can at least point them in the right direction
-
Wow...that was, er, umm, reasonable.
-
So, are you implying that your parents didn't educate you about drugs?
-
No they did but parents can only do so much, you can tell a kid anything is bad and they'll still want to experience it for themselves. For instance "Don't put things in the electrical socket" sure enough kids will do that and that's how they learn.I'm not saying drugs are bad, I don't think any inanimate object is bad, it just depends on the people using it. My parents gave me the whole "don't smoke pot" speech, the year after I was smoking and found out it wasn't as horrible as portrayed.
