I was wondering what is with my nipples? Nothing sick or anything, but I have hardness behind my nipples, and it isn't muscle. It's been there for a few years (I'm 17 now) and my doctor has said it was hormones///growth of breast tissue. I am wondering: has anyone had this as a teen, and if so, when did it finally go away? It drives me crazy and makes me self conscious when it's either hot-they're large, but when it's cold, they're like little domes on my chest. Odd, but, curious.

Hardness behind male nipples

Do an all-forums search on this site for the past 6 months for gynecomastia. Also see http://www.gynecomastia.org/

They are probably just growths due to hormones. If you push at them, does it feel like a disc moving? Or, do you ever have any redness and tenderness?I had the same thing, and the doctor said it was only growth due to hormones. Mine were gone within a fairly short amount of time.I wouldn't suspect gynecomastia unless you have large breasts for a male, considering you are not obese. If it's just the nipples, then it's probably just the growths. They might last a while (as they have apparently), but should go away with time.

Any hormone-induced breast growth in the male, large or small, is gynecomastia, isn't it?It normally does go away on its own.

SteveA, the hormonal growths are not a growth of the breasts, rather a hard growth behind the nipple. I don't believe there is really much you can do about gynecomastia besides surgery.

I used to have something like that. I could feel like a hard lump behind my nipples. It would hurt when lying facedown. It went away eventually, after about several months, so I'm not sure if it's the same thing you have.

I think your information is incorrect. Are you confusing gynecomastia with macrmastia? Gynecomastia is a pretty generic term. See the reference above, and this eMedecine article. Fatty tissue and/or glandular tissue can be affected.NickyPhils> ...I'm not sure if it's the same thing...I believe it's exactly the same thing.

I'm not suffering from "rock tit", but I like the term.
