Why am i a last resort friend?
-
I would say that people who smoke dope all day are pretty dopey, and people who drink all day are pretty dopey, but people who drink all day are a lot more obnoxious. The question is, in either case, is the drive to be high all the time a symptom of something wrong somewhere? Is it possible that your friend already had something screwed up in his head that drove him to be high all the time?

Ok 1. I am human and I do not kno a normal guy or girl who would not want to have sex at my age. 2. When you are known through-out the school as a goodie-goodie who will never have sex, it bothers you and it makes you want to have sex even more. 3. Girls do not want me because they think they will not get action from me (yes thats true, the girls who break up with me say i do not "jump into action" like the other guys they've been with.)And for getting high and stoned and everything to do with drugs 1. I'm human again, and would want to get high even if no body else done it. 2. It's really hard to sit there and let people say to me "Why don't you do anything?" (Yes in my school, there are more people who do types of drugs than not, and alot of people who smoke weed are my freinds and i kno they do it + like i mentioned about a girl who carries around weed in her purse at school) My town is a rough town. It is basically a ghetto town for white rockers and metal-head goth kids. Basically like how texas towns are. There are tons of rocker + goth kids and weed smokers in texas.

well its sounds like the girls in your school are SLUTS! dont even bother with them.

He isnt high all the time he quit weed a long time ago, but his head is not destroyed for life. Weed doisnt just fuck with your head when youre high it does it for life even after you quit your heads still smashed. Its knowen for making paranoiah conditions alot worse sometimes irriverably. I know somone who hears voices in his head that the doctors linked back to years of weed abuse. Drunk people may be dopey and obnoxious but my point is that when they sober up the next day it isnt going to be affecting them everyday for the rest of their life. It depends on the person who smokes the weed and how much is smoked but it can have some pretty bad effects.
-
I don't know about the other stuff, but you are so wrong about this: " Drunk people may be dopey and obnoxious but my point is that when they sober up the next day it isnt going to be affecting them everyday for the rest of their life." I had an aunt who was a terrible alcoholic from a young age. She died of its effects before she was 40. Alcohol will destroy your brain. Seriously. It kills nerve cells in the brain and damages brain structures. It leads to a type of dimensia. It is not a pretty site...trust me on this. Her husband owned a skid row bar in downtown Miami, for years (in fact, that's how they met). One of the skid row alcoholics was my occasional babysitter. He was a nice guy, but he pretty much just slept. In any case, none of those guys lived to a very old age. And none of them did any drugs besides alcohol. So that's the kind of thing I got to see when I was a little kid. It did leave an impression.Make no mistake: frequently getting very drunk will destroy your brain.

I wasn't laughing at you. I was lughing at possum's representation of stoners (the hush puppy picture =D )Sorry if it seemed like it .

oh I was just looking for my thread. Oh wait here it is! but what happend to it???
-
My bad .

I am also a last-resort friend.

Yeah but that is after alot of alcohol abuse. My grandparents are 65 and they have a glass of wine or 2 everyday. As with anything having too much of somthing is bad for you and potentualy kill you. I drink once a week sometimes more somtimes less, not going out this week so I wont have any alcohol at all this week and it doesnt bopther me at all. What youre describing is the extremes of alcohol addiction, my point was if you got drunk once a week and got stoned for the same amount of time you were drunk in the week it would start effecting your brain and it will be somthing unreversable. Alcohol addiction is Also defined as as:Alcohol Addiction, or dependence, is defined as having at least 3 of the following signs: a tolerance for alcohol (needing increased amounts to achieve the same effect), withdrawal symptoms, taking alcohol in larger amounts that was intended or over a longer period of time than was intended, having a persistent desire to decrease or the inability to decrease the amount of alcohol consumed, spending a great deal of time attempting to acquire alcohol, and finally, continuing to use alcohol even though the person knows there are reoccurring physical or psychological problems being caused by the alcohol.I think alcohol is alot safer than weed if used responsably and in moderation just because of the psycological effect weed has on people where as it may not be damaging thier physical health as much from what I have seen it damages mental health which to me is way more important. My college blocking filter is down so I can go on here in college!!! WOOT

I think brain damage is more a result of high blood concentrations at times, rather than total number of drinks. One or two drinks a day isn't very harmful, and is actually recommended for men, because it lowers cholesterol levels. Red wine is especially good, because it has lots of antioxidants (so does tea). (People with a genetic predisposition to alcoholism may not be able to stop at one or two, however.)In other words, two drinks each day in the week is much less damaging than fourteen drinks in one evening and nothing for the rest of the week.Alcohol-induced brain damage tends to attack the part of the brain responsible for planning. My father-in-law had it.
-
Does getting really drunk do perminent brain damage then?
-
Yes. A little bit at a time. But you will certainly lose brain cell. If yo do it a lot, the number of brain cells lost will accumulate. If I'm not mistaken, from what Ineligible said, alcohol particularly attacks the prefrontal lobe of brain (where the "executive" center is). Damage to that area will make your life far less pleasant.Alcohol, in high levels, is toxic to brain cells. There's no way around it. I don't think it's been proven that two drinks a day causes no harm at all, but the evidence points toward causing little to no problem. (Women are more sensitive to alcohol, and two drinks a day will increase their breast cancer risk.)I'm not sure what kind of damage getting high a few times a week will do. It might be harmful, but its effect is not a scientific fact, one way or the other. I, being risk averse, would not do it. But I couldn't tell someone else not to do it because it will, with certainty, fry their brain.

I don't know where the information for the first link came from but it's complete nonsense. The second link is a list of crazy U.S. government anti-drug propaganda.I won't even mention the lack of references in those articles.I'm not interested in Reefer Madness political propaganda. Just because something is on a Web page doesn't mean it's correct. I'm interested in scientific research results, but because of the political climate, it's very hard to do research with marijuana.Disclcaimer: I'm not saying that it's good to smoke pot. I'm just saying that I want to see objective scientific evidence.
-
I'm not sure what kind of damage getting high a few times a week will do.How about the damage that smoking one joint is equivalent of smoking over 10 cigs which increases the changes of cancer? Increases it even more because there is no filter on a join.I dunno about you but that's more than enough damage.
-
Smoking anything is not good, but I'm not sure where the "10 times worse" idea comes from. Is it an urban legend? How about if you ingest the equivalent amount of marijuana or hashish?
-
Look it up bub, it's a fact that smoking one join is the same as smoking 10 cigs. It's an older study that was done back in the day when people used to say "Well smoking joints is less harmful than smoking tabacco".
-
You make a claim. I say, "show me". You say look it up. You don't understand the problem with that. And the cycle continues.> smoking one join is the same as smoking 10 cigs.Who said that? J. Edgar Hoover? What do you mean "the same"? How did whoever made the claim collect the data? And you just believe it, uncritically?
