it looks like he has survived a lot. i do wonder how much of it was really the truth.

Movies?

I loved that movie! I cried after I watched it, and yes it is based on a true story. It is amazing that he survived living in a hell like that, he was very lucky to have made it out alive.
-
From what I've gotten from the bonus features.. most, if not all of itSome of the extra scenes with Derek/Denzel were added, I think, but other than that most of it was true...Of course shit like the whole "I could eat" lines were made up...But the real Antwone really did grow up with those foster parents, and join the navy because of he had nowhere to go, etc. etc. (don't wanna spoil the whole movie here)
-
I'm surprised so many of you have seen it ... I cried during the movie once, but probably for different reasons than you
-
I cried because I could relate to some of the pain he was put through, it really struck home with me
-
To be honest Jesus got off pretty lightly, compared to some of the more painful acts of violence found in movies based on real stories.
-
Haven't seen that movie, but I did cry like a baby watching The Green Mile. That poor little mouse...and the poor big dude...weep
-
Like I said, I cried for different reasons than you

Cars and Vin Diesel? Angel you have awesome taste! You must have loved XXX. I know I did. But anything with Vin in it just makes me sigh and get all dreamy eyed (in my dreams..so outta my league!). Some of my favorite movies are: Gone With The Wind, The Evil Dead Trilogy and Big Trouble In Little China. EDIT: Whoops...I forgot one: Full Metal Jacket
-

In reply to: Is "favorite" a different thing from "best"? Yeah, definitely. My fave is Pet Detective as stated above but for me, the BEST movie ever made would be either Citizen Kane or Godfather 2 - I still can't believe that in the largest movie poll ever (January 2000, Times Newspaper movies of the century poll, 31m votes from more than 160 countries, top 100 movies listed) they only took the second and third spot respectively. Star Wars (????????) took the number 1 spot. Please don't ask me for the whole list because I don't have it since my PC crashed last year but the top 5 were: Star WarsCitizen KaneGodfather 2Shawshank RedemptionGodfather I did manage to find it online a few times but recently when I've located the link it's been dead. If you do find it somewhere, please let me know the link - I've set myself the goal of watching the 20 or so movies on there that I haven't seen but I now can't remember what they all were
-
I'm surprised The Titanic wasn't on that list. I don't think I'd rate Star Wars above 2001: A Space Oddesey, or even above Kubrick's worst film (well, maybe above the one with Tom Cruise). But "favorite" is not the same as "best".Greatest films lists: American Film Institute A bunch of others

pulp fiction

I'm not usually into violent films, but that one was worth it. A Clockwork Orange also was. The Passion Of The Christ -- not even close. Yeccchh.
-
what about 2001: A Space Travesty, now that was hilarious.
-
How could I forget Shawshank Redemption? I love that movie (Morgan Freeman is an amzing actor).
-
Anyone ever seen "In the Glooming" Talk about a sad but very awesome movie. Very moving. Glenn Close you gotta love her!
-
Last night I and a small group of friends (we're all big Linklater fans) watched 'Waking Life'. Great movie - I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it.
-
I'll have to look for that one, thanks =-D
