Okay so I've been having sex for a while and I still have my hymen. Why is that? I can still feel it there. Isn't it suppose to break?
-
Confused about the hymen
-
It's at the entrance of the vagina. It it wasn't already torn, it would be pretty hard to get a penis inside there if it didn't get torn during sex.
-
Are you sure that it's the hymen that you can feel, and not simply a ridge in the vagina or something?
-
I found this site a few weeks ago, maybe it can help The hymen- myth or medical fact?
-
If you have had a penis inside your vagina, then the hymen is broken. If, however, you're talking about something like oral sex then, no, you hymen could still be intact until there is penetration.
-
Actually, readytogo, that's not necessarily true. The formation of the hymen is different in every girl. Some allow for a larger object to penetrate than others without breaking. A girl can have sex and still not necessarily break her hymen.
-
^^ i really dont understand that! i've heard it before, but the hymen must be pretty flexible not to break if youve got a full penis up you-someone explain
-
I put a link a few posts up that will explain it to you
-
Some hymens have a hole. Others have many. It is very possible to have sex for years and still have a partial hymen. (It's actual quite common) Sometimes you can have sex and still have a full hymen. It's different for every girl. Some are born without hymens, others with overly thick ones that have to be cut, etc. You can break it with tampons sometimes, and other times sex won't even do it. Loads of different cases, each one normal.

god..just when i thought i had got rid of it forever! and it might still be there! life...
-
Next time you go to your gyno just ask if your hymen is still there. If you really must know. :P
-
Or get a mirror and a flashlight and check it yourself.
-
You also need a speculum. Don't know too many people that have that lying around the house. It's nearly impossible to check your own hymen with a flashlight and mirror. You're not in the right position to see anything. I don't know if your post was a joke, but you came across sounding like an ignorant male who knows nothing about the female body.
-
You've got to be kidding me! You don't need a speculum. The hymen in not "inside" the vagina. It is at the opening to the vagina. I'm not sure who is ignorant here.... actually I think I do know.
-
You cannot see it yourself if you don't open the vaginal walls more. Maybe for someone else, but not yourself.... my point was for a self examine... not in general...Now I'm getting funny images of a self examine with one...But yah.
-
I don't know what you are talking about. There are no vaginal walls to separate. If you spread the labia minora and look at the opening... tada.. the hymen (area). Perhaps a picture would help. http://www.afraidtoask.com/woman/fghymen.html
-
Yes, there are. That's a very nice picture, but actually that's not what it looks like. (they simplified it) You can't see your own hymen. A gyno can do it without a speculum, but often they use one to keep the vaginal walls open, to get a better view. I don't know if you've ever looked at a hymen that's not in a picture on yourself if your a women, or a gf if you're a guy but it's hard to see in real life. ....I don't know what you are talking about. There are no vaginal walls to separate. If you spread the labia minora and look at the opening... tada.. the hymen (area).
-
Honey, you're thinking about the cervix... not the hymen.
You may be a girl, but you don't know what you are talking about.
-
With a BSc in human physio, you can bet I do honey.
Ask a gyno, they'll set you straight.
-
I think you need to ask.
