First I would like to thank the people who made this site (and Board) for providing a home for information on male genitalia, I'd also like to thank the people who post here for their views, information and opinions (helped me alot)I'm 17 and only a week or so ago realized that my foreskin should be able to retract....honestly..it shocked me. I have been doing the "stretch exercises" sugested on this forum and so far have gone from very little retraction while limp to full and almost effortless (almost) retraction in about five days. Hopefully ill be able to stay at this rate and in a couple of weeks achieve full foreskin retraction while errect (high hopes). (enough background info)My questions are...1. Is one diagnosed with Phimosis if they are unable to retract their penis by adulthood..or must it be an extreme case?2. Ive read many posts of people asking about retraction and using the "stretch Exercise" and am wondering how many people out there has it worked for?3. I've also read that sex is possible without being able to pull the foreskin all the way back..is this true or is it too painful? One Final Note:None of this was taught to me during sex ed in highschool...i strongly believe that it should be taught to kids in Sex Ed. My only guess why its not is due to the fact that in the USA about 80% of people circumsized..making it unusual not to be. I am from the UK and between 6%-15% are circumsized there..this explains why i am not. Do you agree that kids should be taught this in Highschool or should it be up to the parents, the child, or an incident to bring light to good gential hygiene and safer sex for people who are uncut?

Phimosis, Foreskin, and other such things

Hey bud, glad we can help. Sounds like you're on the right track with stretching. To answer your questions, anytime the foreskin is tight its called phimosis. Now, there are varying degrees of this and certainly the older one gets, the more difficult it may be to stretch the foreskin. Sure, sex is possible with a uncut penis and with a foreskin that is tight. However, penetration is easier and the pleasure probably better when the foreskin retracts back and forth during intercourse. You'll find that the head of your penis is going to be really sensitive for a while....and then you'll have great pleasure there! And personally, I do believe that this should be taught in Sex Ed classes....everyone needs to understand the equipment, how it works, how to care for it...and others need to know too. Let us know if you need something else, good luck with the stretching.

Being one of those circumsized guys I cannot speak to the issue of the stretching. Though most of the men in my family (up to my time) were not circumsized and to my knowledge never had any problems with it. My guess is your probably pretty close to resolving your issue.I do agree that genital hygene should be taught in sex ed classes as well. (I think there are probably some circumsized guys out there that need some lessons in hygene as much as uncircumsized ones.) First, those who need to know how to care for themselves will learn some things. Second, maybe it will make folks think about the need to perform circumsizions just to do them. People can understand there is nothing unsanitary or unclean about an uncircumsized penis. It has to do with the owner not the equipment itself.

the only time foreskin was mentioned to me in highschool sex ed wad during a slide show on std's, they showed a guy who was uncircumcised with herpes and the guy said how when he retracted the herpes could tear. also a guest speaker told us if we were uncut to retract before putting on a condom. thats the only time it was mentioned to me.
