Is anyone out there who is younger than 18 or so getting hair on their shoulders as well as their chest? I'm about 17 and started getting hair on my chest when I was about 15. It started at my belly button and then went up to my breast bone. Soon after that it started in a V at my collar bone. By the time I was 16 I had hair pretty much everywhere, including my belly. I started working out at the gym with my dad (he's not very hairy--just me) about the same time as I started getting hair. I now have so much that it is starting to show over my tee shirts. The kids at the gym say I should shave it, but I think it looks great. I'm getting really muscular, and I'm wondering if the exercise is causing me to get hairy, because lots of the really big guys are hairy too. (Anyone know?) Anyway, about a month ago I noticed I was starting to get hair on my shoulders and some at the back of my neck. GROSS! I REALLY don't want to get hair on my back, so if there are any guys out there who have hairy shoulders and backs, PLEASE let me know how it grew in!!

Getting hair on my shoulders--what's happening?
-
as long as your not female (you didn't actually say ) i don't see this as a problem. shaving it however would be a problem and a very stupid thing to do... if you like your hair leave it alone... the hair on the back of your neck and back can safely and easily be removed by waxing at a salon... i doubt very much that any particualr excersizes have made your hair grow dude... it's just you growing up..some peole get to your stage in puberty later or earlier than others, some people don't get there at all (me!) lol.xoxox

I'm VERY MUCH a guy!! I just want to know if anyone out there who has hair on their shoulders and backs got it about the same way and time. Maybe I'll just get hair on my arms, shoulders and chest and then quit.

Hairiness is genetic, so if you come from a gorilla-like family, you're likely to be the same, unfortunately.
-
Maybe so, but then I must be a Mutant Ninja. My dad looks more like a plucked chicken and so do all my uncles--on both sides.
Crap--maybe I'm adopted. Just kidding. I've still got his nose.

Maybe it skips a generation or two. Happens alot.

Anyone know if there is a linke between hairyness and exercise?

Getting hair on your body is perfectly normal and genetic. Gym has nothing to do with it. There are some recessive genes, that they must be double inside your DNA to show their attributes. You can find that information in a biology book. So, don't wonder why you have hair and your father doesn't.
Quite the same thing happened to me. My father is quite hairless, but I got hair on my body, except my back (very few). When my hair first grew i didn't like them that much. But after some years you'll get used to them, and they won't bother you.
You shouldn't shave your body. You will make it even worse, because your skin will become hard and hair will grow faster and harder (it's like shaving your cheeks). In your situation I would only wax my back, if I had just there too many hair
But, it's nothing that important. They are just hair, none a big deal. Since you work your body and you have a sense of humour, women will always find you attractive  -
Well, I guess I going to have to resign myself to being a bare bear. But, certainly, a hairy back isn't a sign of beauty--according to the girls I know. My g/f likes my hairy chest though. I have to admit that having her rub me under my tee shirt makes that ol' "diving board" go pretty straight. And, one of the hardest hard I've ever had was when she gently rubbed my back!!So, guys, what do girls really think of hairy backs??

I hate hairy backs. You could be a beast with every other part of your body, and it won't bother me, but the back had best be smooth or I'm not touching it.
That's just me, though.
