Granted he has the linguistic skills of a chimp. But it does provide some humor. He has had quite alot of bad shit happen since he is been in presidency. I dont think hes doing a good job but I dont think hes doing a bad job. I think people give him alot less credit than he deserves really. Could be worse you could have Tony Blair for peresident. Alot of people here think hes doing a good job but I dissagree looking at the state of this country. I mean they tax the shit out of its people and then after they have lots left over but instead of giving it back they spend it on stupid shit like when they returffed the quarry (huge park place) that didnt need doing in the first place then forgot to water it and it died then they put gravel down to stop people skating and it rained and washed away all the gravel and they had to do it again and tarmack it down. 1% of road tax and gass tax goes back into the roads here its so stupid. I would prefere if they invested in more police so I could actualy feel safe when I go out without having to carry a glass bottle of beer in my pocket as its the only form of protection I have an excuse to legaly carry. The law is so dumb here it just screws over the regular people and the criminals can get away with it because they dont play by the book like everyone else does. I wanna get a night stick or carry pepper spray around with me but the law wont let me. And considering somthing like 30% of people under 18 here carry knives its not to fun having so form of defence. My aunts friend had to go to prison because some guy randomly ran up and started to beat up him and his wife then he ran off and the police caught him that night but he gave himself 2 stab wounds and said the guy stabbed him (which is b.s). And WTF is even the point in having police when you cant identify the person who attacked you because Chavs all look the same? Everytime people have done somthing illigal I should have called over I havnt because there is no point even wasting my time. Because they have "speed cameras" they have less police patroling in cars. These speed camera zone have to be sighn posted that there are cameras there. Great fucking job tony blair i can drop from 120mph to 30 when i hit the zone then speed right back up when I leave it. In America I didnt speed very often unless I knew there werent gunna be any cops around, here I could speed everywhere cus I know there will be NO cops around. This also means that if there are no cops driving around you can commit other crimes without the worry of a passing patrol car. When the crack dealer attacked my friend and I had to pull him off the cops where a few meters up the road and just drove off. Good job on that one team bacon. Even afterwards no police came they just called some fucking ambilence and we had to leave cus he was on E. And people wonder why there is such a high level of underage drinking in this country, its cus its shit and boring and stressful.I seem to have got a bit too carried away ranting about this country... which had nothing to do with the original post... oops

Our President is REALLY uneducated
-
[It's OK to get carried away, but paragraph breaks make things easier to read and understand.]I don't know how it works in Britain, but in the U.S., the president has no control over the the kinds of things that you're complaining about.> ...but I dont think hes doing a bad job.The majority of Americans polled disagree with you. He was elected for one reason: Amercians swallowed the fantasy that Bush somehow made the country safer. The lie started crumbling when people started learning the facts about the Iraq war. It fell apart altogether when the U.S. was unable to respond to a disaster that was predicted days in advance. Imagine how helpless the government would be if a nuclear weapon went off in a city.I was at Arlington National Cemetary a few weeks ago, where the U.S. buries its war dead and other assorted officials. The ranks of the graves of soldiers killed in the Iraq war are growing. And no one even knows why the war was started. It was built on the lies of crazy people, and now we're stuck, and people keep dying and getting maimed."Operation Iraqi Freedom" is carved into the tombstones. The government propagandizes you even after you're dead.
-
>The lie started crumbling when people started learning the facts about the Iraq war.
Where did they get these facts from? Most Americans get their facts from the news, the most unfair and bull shit filled thing ever. The news is filled with even more lies than bush himself, the truth is Americans dont know whats going on at all and everyone just jumps on the bush hating bandwaggon because its almost cool to hate bush nowdays.
>[It's OK to get carried away, but paragraph breaks make things easier to read and understand.]
I should try, I remember when I was younger in preschool the whole paragraph thing was never really explained to me and thus I never got in the habit of using them. Secondry school is shit and the government have just realised it and implimented somthing called "key skills" in college to teach basic english and math skills where the schools fucked up.
>"Operation Iraqi Freedom" is carved into the tombstones. The government propagandizes you even after you're dead.
The news and newpapers show only the bad stuff and what they want to portray. If you expect to see Iraqi people looking grateful for it in there youre sadly mistaken. The only things I belive are the things my friends who are actualy in the military and see this shit first hand tell me. Most of the american channels are arab owned stations, would you expect the truth of them? I think even fox 13 is arab owned which would explain why they are shit and full of shit and lies. But thats what I have just been told, fox 13 could really be owned by cornal sanders for all i know.
-
Most of the american channels are arab owned stations...Why would you think that? Rupert Murdoch is not an Arab. Neither are the corporations that own the rest of the cable channels. So you're saying that the war was started for a good and clear reason, it planning and execution were well thought out and well done, and it will all come to a good end sometime soon? Do you agree with Tony Blair on other stuff also?As a whole, Americans are not well-informed. But some are. We have access to most of the journals and most of the media that you do. And a lot of well-informed people think that the situation is not good, regarding the war and other issues, for reasons that trace back to the president, his decisions, and his political appointments. As it is, well over 40 million Americans have no health insurance, and the number keeps climbing, and some people are bankrupted by what they have to pay even with health insurance; yet the budget deficit has spiraled completely out of control. And it's not an illusion that New Orleans was flooding while the president was clearing brush at his ranch, after which he went to Arizona to make a fund-raising speech. He appears to be out of the loop. Here is an article by Lawrence B. Wilkerson, who served as chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell from 2002 to 2005. It'll give you an idea how the U.S. is currently being governed.
-
>Why would you think that? Rupert Murdoch is not an Arab. Neither are the corporations that own the rest of the cable channels.
As I said its just what I was told by a few people who were probrably wrong.
And as I said hes NOT doing a good job but I dont think hes doing a really bad one. I dont see how he got realected tho, I was guessing he was going to be voted straight out then when he got back in I was like WTF? Well everyone who voted bush should be really kicking themselves now. I dont get how so many people could be bankrupt? Everything is so cheap over there. Except for right now cus of that new orlands crap. Most of the ppl I knew who were having finacial problems was because they were in alot of debt.
-
having finacial problems was because they were in alot of debt. That's where the U.S. government is now.> I was guessing he was going to be voted straight out...You have to wonder about the guy who lost to Bush in the last election.> I dont get how so many people could be bankrupt? Everything is so cheap over there.Housing is not cheap. Neither is energy (gasoline, heating fuel) anymore. Plus a lot of people live from paycheck to paycheck, and if they have no income for a few weeks, they can't pay their bills.A lot of people go bankrupt if they have no health insurance and they get sick. Who has a few hundred thousand dollars lying around?
-
Houses here no one can afford one, you will die before you pay back the loan on your house here. they go for rediculess shit like 700000 and gasoline is about 1/2 the price there. Tho the health insurance thing is horriable over there I never went to the doctors no matter how sick i got. I dont see why they dont have free health insurance like in canada. Tho the good part about not having free health care is that its better quality, english health care is a bit poor. But its free so I wont complain

Seeking any knowledge beyond what lies in your imagination would be a good start. Internet, newspaper, book, lecture, whatever.

I seek a crash course in the Dirty War in Argentina... I have a test tomorrow, and our geography teacher, well, he doesn't explain politics with any sort of skill. Like what is a Marxist? I mean, he expects us to know that, but he doesn't think we know what a left-wing liberal is?
-
Google dirty war Argentina. Keep your eyes open for political slanting. The ever-reliable Wikipedia has a good writeup on Marxism.
-
Much thanks to Steve, on the Marxism thing. I always forget about Wikipedia, for some reason.

I'm one of those people. If it wasn't for moms income off her oil interests and her willingness to give me money I would not make it.
>>>"A lot of people go bankrupt if they have no health insurance and they get sick. Who has a few hundred thousand dollars lying around?" --SteveA
I have health insurance but my deductable is $5,000.00. I had some heart problems a couple of years ago had to go to the doctor (not hospital, doctor) and by the end of the year my bill was $7,500.00, I'm still paying on it, thats a lot of money to try and come up with for someone like me. Do to my use of the insurance, the following year the boss decided to raise the deductable to $10,000.00. So, I just said screw it and quit going to the doctor instead I just try to live healthy.
>>>"Houses here no one can afford one, you will die before you pay back the loan on your house here. they go for rediculess shit like 700000..." --possum
Housing prices are relative to where you live, in L.A. that amount of money might get you a 1000 sq. ft. in a shitty neighborhood. Even thow thouse people make more than I do for the same job it's not likely that they will ever get that paid off.
>>>"...and gasoline is about 1/2 the price there." --possum
Yes, but remember that over here public transportation is a joke (don't know what its like there) and that the commutes are a lot longer here do to the U.S.'s flight from the citys and it concentration on sub-urban development. I realize that I am an extreme case but my comute to work is 86 miles one way. I commonly put 200+ miles a day on my car as do most of people who live in my little town, with no other oppsions. And no, car-pooling does not work. Remember the U.S. is a suburban country so even though you work in the same city you most likely work at least 45 min. to hour away from each other. It's just not practical. And no, there is absolutely no way I could afford to live any closer to work. If I did I would be like the rest of the U.S. and never have my home paid for, and personally I think that is rather dangerous.
Despite the elusion that most of the U.S. puts out, the majority of people are one paycheck away from losing everything and or will never own anything in their lives including the house they live in.
Lastly, as for Dubya, even if you think he has not done "bad", I personally think we need a pres. who is doing good if not great and not getting us into endless expensive wars that we can't afford, that were apparently started for a reason that only Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and Connie Rice know. I sure don't think he knows or is capable of understanding it anyway.
End of Rant

Doesnt it just wanna make you become a crack dealer for that extra cash? lol. Yeah shit generaly sucks, I hoping to get a good job after uni so I have that lil bit extra (hopefully). I'm also gunna try and live with my parents for quite a while until I have saved up a load of money to move out. We have a generaly good public transport system. But note "public" transport, if you enjoy the general publics anoying shit and paying extortionary prices for inconvinience then its ok. I wanna get a car because I hate taking the bus or train. Sometimes its cheaper and sometimes the price is rediculous depends on where your going. But public transports deffinitly better compaired to the usa and public transport is good for work and such because you can get a season pass for cheap and save a bunch of money.Renting a house is really cheap in the usa. My friend was only paying $300ish a month for a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom with kitchen and tv room including utilities! If I lived in America renting is definatly the way I would go, either that or buy a huge truck and live in it.
-
I dont think your comute is so extreme really. It depends agreat deal on where you live. Living in the west thats a bit far but not a great deal to get to work each day. I worked at teh number one polluter in norht america and number 3 in world wide terms for 10 years. I lived in salt lake city and drove to the plant site 3 days on 3 days off 12 hours a day. that was about 80 miles one way. after I left there I worked for Envirocare doing radioactive waste and drove over 100 miles one way.Its all relative to where you live. When Iv been back east Iv noticed, especially the mid west, that towns ar not real far apart but all center around a walmart on the side of hte feeway. here in utah its different. gas is 2.70 a gallon and my car is pulling about 28 per gallon and public transportation sucks. its not bad inteh city but Ilive 30 miles west of the city because I wanted out of that place. smalle place, better for my kids not the traffic, now live on a lake and a golf course its much nicer here. anyways depending on wher you live in the country it changes your average drive time for the population to goto work. My house i paid 100 k for. I got it that cheap because it was my grandpas befor he died and I bought it from my family so negotiations were a bit easier.now figure that he bought it for 45k 10 years ago and my mom live here before that (up the street a ways in another home) and she got hers for 32 k back in 89. housing goes up and up and up. California rapes thier people on many things. housing there is 3 times what it is here. my uncle lives in a house that he paid nealry 3million for. here in utah that same house at the time he bought it would have gone for about 300 k. My step sister lives in frisco, she paid over 200k for hrs and its a shoe box with a garage. The one thing in utah they really rape us on is food, its alot cheaper any where Iv been then here. well food and smokes and beer. part of the LDS attitude to keep us on the right track. Wages here are shit, My girlfriend makes about 14 an hour doing network administration for a major company, most of this country would pay her more around a starting wage of 20 an hour for that.Untill I got laid off a couple of weeks ago I was making 20 an hour doing explosives, most other state Id of been making over 30 an hour for that type of work. I only got tht here because besides the technical aspects of it its inheritly dangerous. The US has many problems, its easy to get in over your head an go bankrupt no dout about it., While I wasnt living pay check to pay check I wasnt far from it.I have insurance and my dibetic son had to have surgery for thyroid cancer 3 months ago, even after my insurance that one hurt financially. not to mention the constant bleeding of my walet by diabeties exspenses. Any one is never above ending up broke and bankrupt. My whole point is that its all relative to where you live in the usa as to what you can do as far as limiting your drive and what you pay for basic needs. The Great American dream is dead. Hunter S. Thompson wrote about it alot and he was right.not: Hunter was not the lunitic that he was thought to be I mean yes yes he was but he wasnt an idiot and constantly under the influencce of drugs. alot of what he wrote was fiction but he used it to present the truth and the facts.Ilost what i wsa trying to say here but know that Just becasue I live in the US it doenst mean life is easier or cheaper. and uhhhh if i recompose mysef anytime soon Ill try to sort this mess I made out.ohhhhh and I hate bush! (the president, not the pussy)
-
$300ish a month for a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom with kitchen and tv room including utilities!Maybe, if you're willing to live in Utah. In most coastal cities, that would be well over $1000. Anywhere near Boston, that would be over $2000 a month, in a not very great place.
-
Id rather live in Utah than be poor as hell.
-
LMAOohhh shit 300 huh? when was that and where was it? whe I wsa renting I was paying 700 a month. my house payment is cheaper and I get equity for it. you neve want to rent if you dont have to unless your not sure that you want to be in that location for a whileEverything here has gone up over the last few years. My house is 3 bedrooms, 2 levels, I found an unused room between my attic and the lower bedroom so Im going to build it into an office with cathedral cieling and put a deck off it since its between the two levels and the entrance right on the landing on the stairs. with the current load I took for 100k and this improvement I should be abe to sell it assuming that property doesnt keep going up like it is for another 5 or 10 k after its done. housing isnt cheap anywhere but cheaper someplaces then it is here. Oklahoma I know is cheaper or atleast around Mcalester where Iv had an oppertunity to look into housing when a buddy was moving there for work.

A lot of companies are offering worse and worse medical coverage. Some people have a 10% co-pay. If you have no savings, and a big medical problem, where do you get 10's of thousands of dollars for a co-pay? Often, you go bankrupt. But now Bush got his make-it-really-hard-to-go-bankrupt law in place, so now people who have financial disters have even more hurdles to jump over.
-
$300ish a month for a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom with kitchen and tv room including utilities!I wish I could find a place that cheap here lol The cheapest is around $575 or $600 a month with out utilities included. On my pay check I can't afford to move out just yet so I'm looking for a new one as soon as possible
