I thought ya had to have at least a 2.0 to be on a team, and if she really spells like that, then i don't see how that can be possible. teachers at least have to understand it.

About IPs, for SteveA:"Internal" IPs are only used internally, and don't appear outside the network. The IP that a post comes from on the Net has been allocated by the ISP. It may be a static IP which remains the same from session to session - this is normal for institutions and common for cable and DSL, or it may be a dynamic IP that is allocated from a pool of IP numbers for a session and goes back in the pool after the session - this is usual for dial-ups. (Or it can be semi-permanent.) Either way, the IP will come from the range that the ISP has bought. If the ISP is a small one, it may only serve a small area and therefore narrow down the location. If it is a large ISP, it may nevertheless allocate different IP ranges to different servers in different locations. There will be no information about that in the whois data, which will only point to the ISP's head office, but a traceroute may reveal the name of the server, which often includes the city name. (Or other traceroute data may reveal the server location.)Most large ISPs operate that way, but AOL (dial-up at least) is an exception - they allocate their IPs dynamically across their whole network, and also switch from server to server to even up the load.IPs are visible on posts only to moderators and admins.

You need to find a proxy server, so that, to the outside world, their IP address will look like yours. But it slows things down, and it's likely that not all protocols will work (e.g., logging into things can be a problem), and it can really slow things down, since all your traffic will pass through the proxy server, which might not even be on the same continent as you. It can also be a security risk: why should you trust the proxy server?
Having a dynamic IP address can help, but most broadband providers change them infrequently, if ever. (Appartently, Verizon DSL in Boston gives everyone a static IP address, whether they ask for it or not.) -
I have heared of programs that you instal on your pc that give you a static IP. You have the same IP adress but everyone else sees another one.
-
I don't understand how that would work without a proxy server somewhere. In any case, practically everyone is behind some sort of router (even simple DSL modems nowadays include routers), so the IP address of your actual PC is only visible on your internal (i.e., in your house) network. It's the IP address that your router presents to the Internet that's visible. I suppose you could force it to have a static address, and as long as it's a valid IP address within your ISP's address block, it might work. But if you duplicate someone else's IP address, you will really screw things up.
-
Ha I actually know what SteveA is talking about. I remember we were crewing around with our dorms network and we did duplicate someones IP. We got caught and it caused a few problems with network, needless to say I would not try that on my computer here at home b/c internet is a precious comodity when not on a school campus.

My brain hurts from: first, trying to read ssa's posts, and second, from trying to comprehend what I have just read. Also, I am lost on who she is... She lies too much, and it's messing me up.
ssa:
Honey, just go get yourself a new account on here, and be yourself on it, because I highly doubt anyone will believe or know who the real you is on your current account. -
It would be impossible to escape her writing characteristics.
