Speaking of politics, on November 8th, the people of Texas will be going to the polls to vote on nine proposed constitutional amendments. I'm getting all types of hell for wanting to vote against Proposition Two. Proposition 2 would amend the Texas Constitution by adding Art. 1, sec. 32 stating that marriage in Texas consists only of the union of one man and one woman. It also would prohibit the state or a political subdivision of the state from creating or recognizing any legal status that is identical or similar to marriage. I'm voting "no" because I firmly believe that every person should be allowed to be married to who they choose regardless of gender. Our government should not be allowed to say who a person can marry and who they cannot. It's bloody barbaric (and very lethargic idea at that) in my opinion. Noone should be allowed to dictate to us who we should be with and who we shouldn't. Homosexual men and women are "humans" too and it's about damn time they be treated that way! There is no reason why these people should be given the shaft just because they have a diffrent sexual preference! Sorry, it was a bit off topic... but still politics ^_^

we had that in Utah with the last presidential elecetions, here in this fucked up state with its bullshit attitudes it passed with flying colors! stupid assholes cant realize that marriageis a contract and not religous. if ya take exception to it look it up it was around long before churchs were! its a buisness arangment thats it. So long as some guy isnt trying ot get his dick insie me its none of my buisness what he does. and since all it isthat they want is to be free to have the union between themselves and someone they love recognised as legal and get the benifit i get for being married to a woman I got no problems with it. if it doesnt affect you personally then mind your own damned business!

Katie you know I love ya!!! =-D

I completely agree, The governemnt has no right to tell people that they cant get married. Thats what we all are -people-
-
big hugs It really makes me angry that the government thinks they can make our choices for us. My sister went to her best friend's wedding last weekend and because she just happens to be gay it can't be be concidered an actual wedding in the state of Texas, it's a "commitment ceremony." I hope that homosexual marriges is legalized because Kathy and her spouse (along with every other homosexual couple who wants to marry) deserve to have the same rights as heterosexual couples.
-
Could not agree more. It's very very frustrating because we try hard to just be part of society but at the same time we are knock down my the government. We are made to pay the same amount of taxes, social security, etc etc but yet we are treated like second rate citizens. We cannot be married, there are states that won't allow homosexual couples to adopt, we cannot be on each others insurance and so much more. You know I'm fine if they don't wanna label it marriage if that makes people happy. Give us somethings that's equal to marriage and call it a "Commitment Ceremony" or a "Union", but we should without a doubt get the same basic right as "marriage" as any other heterosexual citizen.I'll stop my rant there. =-D
-
Ha, don't get me started on the adoption subject... too late! ^_^ Why in the hell do people think that people who are homosexual are any less able to care for a child than a heterosexual person? It's not like if you touch/ or hang around someone who is gay you automatically become "gay" yourself! If that was the case then I'd be the biggest lesbian you've ever seen lol I believe that gay couples can make great parents, probably better parents than most strait couples I know. People should not be denied the right to be loving parents, and there are many, many children out there that need families so why take that chance away from them? A homosexual couple can be just as loving and caring as any other couple. It boggles my mind at how many mental midgets we have running our government and the worst part about it is we put them there!

It's not fair to throw libertarian in with liberal. Just ask the Cato Institute. Libertarian needs its own classification.

I was going to, but i figured they may as well go together

how about abortion? Life or death for the unborn. Lets see this topic go to the next level.

My Two cents on organized religion can be best described by a wikipedia quote about Bill Maher (my hero ) In reply to: Maher has said many times that religion works under the guise of morality, but that its tenets generally have nothing to do with morality; that religious prohibitions are being confused with moral law. In Maher's view, just because a religion prohibits the consumption of pork or decries homosexuality, that does not mean that consuming pork or being homosexual are immoral acts. Instead, Maher argues that an immoral person is one who harms others; an activity which harms another individual such as murder or rape would be an immoral act. This is also a traditional libertarian position.Maher opposes religious monuments such as The Ten Commandments being placed in or near court houses, saying that this would violate the separation of church and state. He has countered the assertion of conservative Christians who claim that American law is based on the Ten Commandments by saying that of the ten, only two (the prohibitions on murder and theft) apply to American law. The other commandments, he argues, such as honoring no god before the Judeo-Christian God, keeping the Sabbath holy, or honoring thy mother and thy father, are not American laws at all. In answer to the suggestion that a divine moral authority is necessary, he suggests "Couldn't we just get together and agree on the few basic [Commandments] that are laws? Like 'Don't take my stuff, and I won't kill you'?"

Brought forward from here :Bill Maher on religion..."When I hear people say ‘I’m a Christian,’ I don’t hear ‘I’m better than you,’ I hear ‘I have a neurological disorder.’""Religion makes people do crazy things,” Maher continued. “Religion stops thinking, impedes progress and screws up priorities.""So many of these born-agains, these evangelicals, when you hear them speaking, no matter what the question is, they can't leave Jesus out of it for two seconds. It's OK when you're a child. Children have an imaginary friend. When you get to be an adult, no more imaginary friends. But Jesus is their imaginary friend. Everywhere they go, everything they do, Jesus is along. Oh, Christ.""Flying planes into a building was a faith-based initiative."

hehe I love bill maher. In reply to: Maher has stated on several appearances of Larry King Live that he does, indeed, believe in God, but that organized religion is nothing more than tradition and superstition. He asserts that organized religion provides answers to questions that "cannot possibly be answered". Questions such as "Where do I go when I die?" or "Is there a heaven?", he says, are impossible to answer. By claiming to have the answers, Maher argues, organized religion is dishonest and it "stops people from thinking".On Maher's most recent appearance on Larry King Live he said he was an agnostic, implying that he may be an agnostic deist.

Thats tricky fuckng poll.Im against it. I mean Im against it because I was for it till I had my kids. I do however think that its not up to me. I can never have one. and it cant ever affect my body and its none of my fucking business if someone gets one. I do think though that outside of rape or incest or threatening the mothers life to carry it to term, I mean the whores that jsut go get knocke up fucking around, that once they have the first oe the price should include mandatory medical sterilization for herbut hey Im a prick

Of course, I think that homosexual couples should be allowed to marry. As mentioned above, it's a commitment, not a religious thing. Homosexuals provide as much for the world as any other person, so why shouldn't they have the same rights? Love is love.As far as homosexual couples adopting, I think it is a great idea. I have no doubt that a homosexual couple can be just as good of a family to raise children. It would help to relieve adoption homes from being crowded and provide loving families for those children that wait and wait for a family to adopt them. Aside from that, straight couples do account for most all "broken families" anyways, no?As far as abortion, I think it should be legalized with limits. I don't really feel that the village bicycle should be able to run in for an abortion everytime she becomes pregnant, but I don't think it's for me to say otherwise. If abortion is illegal, there will always be women who have "black market" operations that will likely end up killing the mother, or leave her with "medical" injuries. I put the mother's life above all else. If the birth will be life-threatening, I feel that abortion should be an option (of course, if the problem can be relieved before going to that extreme measure, that'd be better). Beyond that, it could help out with the problem of so many children being in adoption homes waiting to be adopted. Regarding organized religion, I think Bill Maher's thoughts sum it up fairly well.
