I'm new.Currently I'm not in school & I spend all of my time home. I really have no choice, I still don't know how to drive a car, my mom is helping but it's a slow process. All throughout High school,I did very bad in school because I had no interest in the work. I know, me being stupid. I never really gave much thought about college & what would I like to be doing in the future. I've thought, but nothing ever comes & still doesn't until this day. I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with my life?? I don't even know if I can handle taking care of myself. I still don't understand alot about money & how to pay bills & all of that adult stuff.. No one really taught me.I know it's a shame & here I am beginning to be 19 on Saturday. Ever since graduation, it's been depressing. All of my friends have gone off to college & I'm officially alone . My parents work most of the time & are usually too busy or tired to really listen to me.Since I don't know how to drive, it's going to be really hard for me to get a job. I've tried lots of places but I don't know, I never get hired or anything. So I spend everyday here at the house, watching tv until my eyes hurt. I cry alot & it's really getting to me that I have no life. I regret the mistakes I made. Overall, I'm lost & I don't know what I should be doing with my life.I don't have any talents.Back in High School, I never did anything.. I wasn't into sports or anything. Nothing interests me.. Is there something wrong with me?I don't know if I can handle college, because I cannot stand reading or being still like that in a long time, that's why I hated homework or classwork, my mind always wandered off when the teacher was talking or reading. I'd have to keep rereading until I focused hard enough to understand things about what I was reading about.
Alone & lost.... No one cares..
Oh wow. Im really sorry (and probably not the best person to responding here) but, No one taught you how to pay bills or drive? First off, Set short term goals, example what you need to do right now. First, Drive. You will not go anywhere unless you ride your bike to work (is there anywhere close that you can work at to where you can ride your bike) and paying bills isnt difficult, im sure some one else on here can help you with that. If you can, you should try atleast taking some courses at a community college cause atleast thats something. Some of my friends ended up in the same situation, parents to busy and didnt teach their kids the basics of life. Take it in small steps and get off your ass and stop watching tv, you need to figure out your life before you end up at a less desireable job. I hope I helped, PM me if you need anything
Edit: Im also a master at putting together a resume' or college Apps, also with wording stuff (i heard thats where most people go wrong when applying for a job)

I can tell you that there are a lot of things that will remain hidden to you when you sit at home. I know you cannot drive, but you have your legs. So I suggest you get out of the house do what you can to stay outside and busy. I have the same problem right now, I was at college but I got dropped, and now I am at home and I am not doing well in school b/c I am at home b/c I have nowhere to drive b/c all my friends from hs I have lost contact with, but I have found that if I get myself outside, I feel a lot better. So I mean grab your CD player and take a walk, and keep working at driving and getting a car. It is hard to find a purpose in your life when you are not exploring. I would suggest just your set up a list for yourself of what you want to get done. So you can work to your goals and build up confidence as you accomplish each item on your list. I hope this helps you out some. Just give it a shot and AIM High.
not all of use are lucky enough to live in cities or towns, some of us live where the farms are.
well even better. You can walk around in silence.
I think Java Addict's suggestion of enrolling in a community college is a great idea. You can start out with a lighter load of hours until you get used to being back in school. Usually with community colleges, there is more professor-student interaction due to smaller classes.
Even if you start out with only a few hours per semester, it will keep you occupied for a few hours throughout the day. When I was in highschool, I graduated early and had a lot of time to do what I wanted. But, it got pretty boring doing nothing all day. I ended up working until I moved off for university so I had my own money, to keep me occupied, and so I would have some job experience.
I fully understand what you mean about lack of focus on studying and such. I make good grades, but find it really hard to sit down for a lenghty amount of time to study or do other work. I end up having to take a break every short while, and tend to not start homework until night. It's true that good study habits start before college.
As far as bills go, just ask a peer to help you figure it out. At first, I was a bit shakey with bills, but after a while I got used to it. One good thing is organazation. I have a bulletin board near the kitchen that has a letter rack on it. I write down what bill is due when, and for how much. Once it is paid, I file them in a small file cabinet I bought with any receipts I may receive after payent. A lot of utility services allow you to pay online, as well.
So, I apologize if any of that doesn't make sense. I am a bit out of it from lack of sleep, and I hope things get better
