I just got back from my friends house and we were just hanging out watching that "Monsterfest" on tv. And of course we get those early tricker treaters who want their candy the day before Halloween also. Well his mom and dad weren't there and when the kids came ringing our doorbells we gave them the small amount of candy we had. We eventually had to run to the store since they kept coming. But anyway, when his parents got home like a half hour later his mom asked why so many candy bags were around, and then the doorbell rang again and we gave these kids candy, (mind you they are only what 9-11 years old). And the mom goes "you can't give them candy! we don't celebrate Halloween! It's evil!" and she's actually talking about how the kids are just being lured by the devil or what not. Now... I'm a Christian... but this, was absolutely ridiculous. These kids are younger than 13, and they're evil? I think that's just a bit of overexaggeration. Oh yeah and scream 3 is on and it's making me jump(I get scared easily). The girl is stupid... she deserved to die.

Overexaggerating a little bit?
-
Haha omg thats funny (sorry, but it is). I can understand not liking halloween and not celebrating it (im just going to a party tomorrow) but, I mean Let the little kids enjoy it!
-
I know exactly. Renaming it Hallelujah day is one thing. My friend thinks I'm being a hypocrite for going to a Halloween haunted house party tomorrow when I was invited by my best friend. I mean it's a party come one.
-
If people are going to hell for celebrating halloween, every single little kids, teenager, and adult is screwed.
-
lmbo
-
what next? They'll be telling you that Christmas has something to do with Jesus (bloody fanatics)
-
**I run a scout group, and there are always people who don't send their kids to the halloween party, cos they think halloween, and celebrating it is wrong.............the kids love to dress up, they have no idea about the devil etc, why do parents put their problems onto their kids................Java hon, is it a dress up party your going to, if so what are you going as...........im off to a big party too tonite YEEHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! **
-
Dont worry about hell... Just have fun
-
Halloween is evil? Since when? It's a time for lots of candy and fun, so JapanFan go have a blast. I had my Halloween fun lastnight 'cause I have to work this evening... I went to several supposedly haunted cemeteries and even took a walk in the woods with a few friends of mine (which I suggest you not drink while frolicking in the woods, it'll mess ya up and get ya lost ).

Fundamentalist Christian often see it as a Satanic thing.
-
Ha ha thats just plain silly, its just another festive holliday like christmas and easter.
-
if anything, its just a day that the marketing companies can go crazy about just like valentines day, i guess in a few years time we'll be giving out halloween greeting cards...but yeh i agree, halloween partys are always fun

Don't Christmas and Easter have pagan origins, as Halloween does?
(_Over_exaggerating?)
-
They are religious holidays but if you care to to try and invoke arguments about religion in every thread then sure. Im pretty sure you know how Christmas and Easter came about. I dont see how they would have "pagan oragins" considering they are a religious holiday and a pagan is somone who has no religion.
-
This thread is about Hallween, and how some fundamentalists don't like the holiday. No one is bringing religion into it. It is a religious thread.Christmas' pagan originsChristmas customs and their pagan originsOrigin of Christmas:In reply to:The date of December 25th probably originated with the ancient "birthday" of the son-god, Mithra, a pagan deity whose religious influence became widespread in the Roman Empire during the first few centuries A.D.The Pagan Origins of ChristmasPagan Origins of Modern Christmas Traditions============================================================================================The Pagan Origins of Easter:In reply to:The name "Easter" originated with the names of an ancient Goddess and God. The Venerable Bede, (672-735 CE.) a Christian scholar, first asserted in his book De Ratione Temporum that Easter was named after Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). She was the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. Similarly, the "Teutonic dawn goddess of fertility [was] known variously as Ostare, Ostara, Ostern, Eostra, Eostre, Eostur, Eastra, Eastur, Austron and Ausos." 1 Her name was derived from the ancient word for spring: "eastre." Similar Goddesses were known by other names in ancient cultures around the Mediterranean, and were celebrated in the springtime. The Pagan origins of the Easter Bunny

The answer lies in the pagan origins of Christmas. In ancient Babylon, the feast of the Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25. Raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were traditions of this feast. I am going to party so much harder this Christmas now!

Oh yeah and thanks for the links I was rather mistaken.

Yeah I just got back from a party... would have lasted longer but it's school night, and I have History exam tomorrow but I'm procrastinating again. That's not unusual. There are a Jasons, freddys, screams, and all that good stuff running around my neighborhood. Sad to say I'm actually frightened because I saw all of those movies yesterday. The mother I was talking about actually had a story to back up what she had to say. How witches and warlocks celebrate halloween and use the candy to lure children so they can torture them. obviously she's been on that stuff too. I've already been scared out of my mind with my bf and his friends dressing up as reenacting that scream movie so... I'm going to go kill him now. Oh and Happy Halloween everyone! or hallelujah day lol

The mother I was talking about actually had a story to back up what she had to say. How witches and warlocks celebrate halloween and use the candy to lure children so they can torture them.Well, at least the Christians are leaving the Jews alone, now that they're distracted by all those witches and warlocks.
