With all the casual sex/hook ups going on and people being upfront about about sex, I wonder why people don't ask upfront for their new partners to be checked for STDs. Both people going to a doctor and being examined and tested. Is it taboo or are people not wanting to go to the trouble? I don't hear about that happening. I understand that one person may not want the other to be offended, but isn't random sex and having many sex partners risky and why be so polite to someone you just want for sex?How would you feel if a new boyfriend/girlfriend, whom you were going to have sex with, asked you to get tested at the beginning of the relationship?

I don't understand why that is either, or at least I don't know anyone (besides myself) who's done that. When I first met my boyfriend we were talking about sex. I was a virgin and I never did anything sexual with anyone before. And he wasn't a virgin and had numerous encounters. That made me kind of nervous, but because he cared about me and my health, he politely offered to test himself. I told him to please do so and thankfully, he was clean. If it was the opposite, I would have no problem with it.

One objection to this might certainly be the cost. Perhaps someone will know more about this, but I understand that this could cost as much as $300.00 for a full screen.

Depending on your location, you can usually get things done up at a sexual health/planned parenthood clinic. Here in Ontario we have that (Because frankly, it's a lot cheaper to diagnose and treat a disease early, than deal with the MASSIVE social and monetary costs of a person left un-treated, spreading disease unknowingly)

Cost could be a reason. If a person can't afford preventative measures than they really should limit the number of sexual partners they have and invest in some protection. It's really sad. However much it costs, it's worth it. You should have to put a price on health. I wish we had free healthcare in the United States. You have to be dirt poor or pregnant to get any kind of government help.

You can ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get free condoms, either from a planned parenthood clinic, or contact your local Aids organization. They usually have dental dams as well.

Hawker23 is absolutley correct. Condoms are free at Planned Parenthood. And I also believe you can get free HIV tests at your local Free Clinic.

I think that this information is the best.
