i was wondering if it was okay to keep the pacth on for an extra week, so opening a new pack and putting on the patch for four weeks instead of three. is this unhealthy in any way?

An extra week on the patch

No, it's fine. You'll skip your period for that month, that's about it. Next month, ur period may come a day early than expected though, but it's no biggie. Just don't make skipping a habit.

what if i just put it on an extra week everytime then take off the patch on the fourth week? so i would get my period every fifth week instead of every fourth week. because all of us know, periods are no fun.

If you don't want to get your period often you need to look into another form of birth control. Directions on products are there for a reason.

I'm not sure how the patch rhythm works, but wouldn't it just mess up the order? What's the point of delaying it anyway? On the patch, your period is lighter, shorter and less painful - so just get it over with once a month.
If you really want to get rid of it for a while, there's a bc pill called Seasonel i believe that gives you only 4 periods a year (although i personally wouldn't go for that).

look i really wouldnt mess with the method of taking it, it will just confuse your body, only if it says it in the instructions which i doubt it does, should you do it.

does your insurance cover your birth control? if it does, wearing patches continuously will result in you needing a new patch before the insurance will cover it and then you will be s.o.l. Also, if you use that technique you will runout of prescription refills before your physician warrents...so you might as well tell your doc and have them write your script for "continuous cycle". People do this all the time with ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES (ie. Mircette, Ovcon, Ortho Tri), but I have never seen someone do it with Ortho Evra or Nuvaring. If you want to have fewer periods, look into Seasonale (as someone else mentioned) or ask your doctor for a different script.

This is a pretty old thread, so she probably already dealt with her issue
