what is it ? How is it used? Why do you have to "prep" it? Lol I've always wondered
-
Diaphram

hmm, i dont knw, its a kinda dome shaped thing that the woman puts up her vagina, i think you also have to use spermicide. however, i think you have to leave it in for 6 hours after sex, it might be before im not sureive never used it because it just sounds so inpractical for me anyway
-
It's like a concave 'dam' that a woman puts in her vagina and it covers the cervical opening. Spermacide may be used but some ppl maybe alergic to it, but that's what it is. It's not as effective as a condom or the pill against pregnancy and no std protection. It's basically a lid.
-
It's basically a lid. I like to think of it as more of a cork lmao but yeah, honestly its a really old form of Birth control, protects from no std's, and isn't reliable

Thank you very much. Just one thing. I'm imagining a sort of hollow plastic dildo at the moment which doesn;t seen right. Is it made of latex or what?

just check out the afraidtoask websitego to: http://www.afraidtoask.com/contraception/index.htmland then click on the link for Diaphragm on the left hand side, theres a pic of what it looks like.
-
wow that looks huge:S and how do you get it back out again:S i don't see any string or anything.
-
lol i really dont know, cant say i've ever tried it
-
Urg that looks unpleasant lol, I think ill stick with condoms
-
Hmm, i don't know how to get it out, but it seems like the woman would just reach in, kinda pinch it and pull it out. I agree, it does seem unpleasant.

My wife used one for a while and actually it wasn't at all unpleasant for her or for me. What you have is a flexible piece of latex with a stiff ring that expands tightly against the vaginal walls after insertion. You use it with spermacide around the edges to act as a "sealant" to keep any sperm from swimming around the edge. She never semed to experience any discomfort and even a couple of times forgot to take it out in the morning. It allowed us the feeling of going bare without the concern for pregnancy. The one downside that I felt was that it would either spoil the moment or take away from spontenaity as she would have to get up and insert it before we could have sex.JenJen's description above is quite apt. Prx is absolutely right that it is for contraception only and should not be used unless you know for sure that your guy is clean as it does not protect again STD's.

Ok thanks all.
