obviously you're not a man, little boys need babysitters, not men

Abortion

too bad i'm not speaking on the behalf of myself.
-
too bad you are

You obviously don't know me very well. When I talk about men in general, I'm talking about the majority and not the whole.Since you don't know much about me, let me explain the kind of person I am. I long for the day I can find someone to spend the rest of my life with. Someone who I can take care of and in turn take care of me. I don't enjoy going out to titty bars, drinking, smoking, or big parties. At 17, I have accomplished more than most do at this age. I'm a network technician for the board of education, I juggle high school activities and college, and maintain a healthy social life. Being a hopeless romantic I am, what I like to call, the "cheeze". Meaning I like to bring my girl gifts or flowers and hold her in my arms and do that cheezy stuff like going out to watch the sunrise or sunset or sitting under the stars.Whether or not I'm a man is your opinion. My opinion is I'm just me.
-
Your majority or "men in general" is ridiculous. Women don't need to look after men, but since you feel the "majority" of them need babysitting, then as a woman or a "babysitter" then I feel that it's your time for bed, after all you're 17 and it's going on 9:30 now
-
lol. Well, at least you have a good sense of humor.
-
lmao. the power of "babysitting" is sometimes not so good.trots off to bed

In reply to: A man is only responsible for his own actions, but men do need a "babysitter" sometimes. You gotta admit, a lot of men would be telling the wifey he's going out to the titty bar every night. Allowing people to rely on "babysitters" may be why they need them so much Anyway, let me sum up my feelings about the last day or so of abortion talk. I've heard a lot of talk about punishing sexual irresponsibility and how women "control sex." If we put this all together, the argument goes something like this:Men are irresponsible and unable to determine their own sexual relationships. Women control sex, and the best way to control men is to punish women with abortion laws. After all, in your hypothetical about the woman having sex with the irresponsible man, who do you think gets punished by strict abortion laws? Is it the man? I've already made my argument (earlier in this thread) for why punishing irresponsible sex with pregnancy is so foolish. I think that punishing women (and only women) for the actions of both men and women is even more baseless. In the world in which I live, it takes two people to have sex, and either party can say "no." As I told Zach, pro-lifers should stick with the "fetus is alive argument." It's not an argument to which I subscribe, but at least it’s not patently offensive or irrational.

In reply to: Allowing people to rely on "babysitters" may be why they need them so much Abortion can be looked at as a babysitter. The purpose of making abortion illegal is not to punish, rather to create more incentive and initiative toward education and the use of contraceptives. My father has a philosophy, and it goes something like this. The more rights one has then the more power and the more responsibility must be taken. Over the years, women have become less responsible because they've become less moral, and so some rights probably shouldn't have been awarded, like abortion. But it has already been given, and what you have given cannot be taken away. The morality of this country is beyond repair.I branch away from his philosophy in thinking that there is still hope for morality to return but it takes something drastic to change it.
-
I don't much care for your fathers ideas. It seems he think women are the lesser sex.Women deserve freedom as much as men do, and if I want to fuck someone and then have an abortion- its my body and my choice.
-
i agree.well, at least when his father dies, we have one less idiot to worry about. except hes already passed on his dilusions to his son...its a pity, this cycle of ignorance.
-
Who are the two of you to judge his father?
-
In reply to:

That's funny, my dad is pro-choice
In reply to:

Also funny, because I'm pro-life
-
hehehe, actually, you've got it wrong. My father thinks women are the stronger sex, as do I.
-
that may be, but I still don't agree with the solutions/ways he puts his opinion.
Either way, I'm not trying to judge anyone. I just don't agree with any of the "quotes" you took from your father.
Alas, I seem to disagree with many tonight... -
I was using my father's quotes as a way to demonstrate how my views have branched from his and, unsuspectingly, it also has demonstrated how misunderstanding and miscommunication can evolve through lack of analysis and too much haste.I find the way his opinion is put across tends to be quite morbid and hopeless, but there is little bits of truth contained within it.As for his solutions, they probably don't vary much from your own since he is recognized as being pro-choice.What should we do about abortions? Reduce them--educate the public and inform about the availability of contraceptives. I think most people would agree with this solution. Whether a person is prolife or prochoice is quite irrelevant I would think; considering the emotional stress that some women are put through when having the procedure done.

In reply to:
teenages (who im assuming you are ranting on about, im assuming) arent fit to be parents.
I believe that post was made by CaughtMyFancy and I'm here to tell you you're wrong. I don't know if you meant as whole or not but my mother was a parent at the age of 15 and I'm the oldest child. So she had me when she was 15. She had all of her children by the time she was 19. She finished high school, went to college FULL TIME to be a nurse (her GPA NEVER dropped below a 3.5), had two FULL TIME jobs (yeah that would be almost 70+ hours a week), took care of three kids and her husband (and my parents are STILL married...22 years) and our house was NEVER a mess. My parents have worked their asses off. And they were kids when they got married (my mom was 15 and my dad was 22). So you can't speak for all teenagers or kids who have kids.
As for abortion, I'm pro-life. I believe you made your choice when you decided to have sex meaning that it's like a contract. By having sex you agree to take on all the responsibilities and/or consequences that come a long with that. What about rape you ask? I was a victim of rape. And while I think under circumstances like that it SHOULD be left up to the woman, I couldn't do it. I look at it this way: This man raped me, the baby didn't. It should at least be given a chance to live. And while I would suggest adoption, again, I couldn't do it because that baby has parts of me too. And babies don't have to be born to be alive. They're alive inside you. I was with my cousin one day when she had an ultrasound. I could see the head, hands, feet and eyes. I got to hear the heart beat. And she moved (yep, it's a girl....Miranda Faye...middle name is after my grandma). She moved her arms and legs. So it is a living thing. I consider abortion murder. But the thing is....even though I'm pro-life....I cannot choose for any woman what she does with her body even though I don't believe it's JUST their body anymore when they become pregnant. It IS theirs...however...it's someone else's too for 9 months...or at least it should be. And in a perfect world their wouldn't be any abortions however, I have to respect that some these women who do have abortions do not make that decision easily. Some women agonize over it. But there are women out there who use it only as a form of birth control and those same women have abortions because it makes it easy for them to disregard responsibility and I think that's wrong.

It shouldn't matter to you, you don't live here.
