Sorry I make you feel that way :frowning:

In reply to: You certainly have some well-thought-out opinions on race. Its something that has occupied alot of my thought throughout my life. I think its healthy to think about these things and develope and opinion. In reply to: Here you're referring to the American Civil War. I understand that you're sympathetic toward the white Southerners' wanting to be left alone by the government, but in the U.S., only neo-nazis use phrases like "Southern nationalism". My sympathy to what I call southern nationalism is on libertarian grounds. I consider myself right-wing libertarian, a political stance the southerners were (arguably) fighting for (albeit with a good deal of hypocracy)...obviously I have no sympathy for slavery or segragation as that goes against my libertarian belief's. To be clear though I wouldnt like to see the states become independant today, I like the USA as a nation. I am most deffinately not a neo-nazi. I was invited by colleagues of mine to protest against the BNP (British Nationalist party) at Nick Griffens (their leader) trial here in Leeds. I couldnt go cos I had college. In reply to: How's that going? Its going good. I now live in Leeds and for the first time in my life am surrounded by non-whites all the time. Infact my college is in a place called Beeston and every morning I walk through the streets in which lived the guy's who set those bombs off in London. But I'm enjoying multiculturalism and get on really well with the asian girl in my class...she is gorgeous. I also have an asian colleague in the Concervative Future group of which I am a member, he seems like a decent enough bloke. In reply to:ME so horny come make me cry you hung-lika-nigger hunk of a manYour gay, your bent, your ass is up for rent, your GAAAAY, your GAAAY I was taking the piss In reply to: Only a racist needs racial pride. I'm proud to be Welsh and British and to be able to tarce my routes back centuries on this island. Infer from that what you wish, though I hope my above comments make it clear that I certainly dont consider myself a racist nor do I hold anything against the large asian community which makes up a part of my new home. Remember I said that to get a guy to stop slagging off his own race, I was sticking up for his own chinese race that he insisted on insulting.

Its something that has occupied alot of my thought throughout my life. I think its healthy to think about these things and develope and opinion.Congratulations. You spent a lot of your life contemplating something of little value.Sometimes people come to firmly believe opinions that are based on nonsense. I don't see anything healthy about that. And I have to wonder what motivates someone to spend so much time thinking about racial issues.> I'm proud to be Welsh and British and to be able to tarce my routes back centuries on this island.I'm not sure why people are proud things they had nothing to do with. And how can you be proud of something unless you think it's superior? Would you be less proud if you were born in Belgium, and could trace your roots back there?Seriously, people need to find things to be proud of beyond superficial nonsense like that. Interestingly, some mathematician who decided to run the numbers found that you need to go back surprisingly few generations to find that most Europeans are related (the same is true for other groups), and surprisingly few generations beyond that to find connections among people from different continents. Also, if you analyze the DNA of different races, you'll find that there is often more variation among members of a given race than there is among people of different races. In any case, hybridization makes for more vigorous offspring.

Its something that has occupied alot of my thought throughout my life. I think its healthy to think about these things and develope and opinion.I have an opinion on it, That kind of crap is only skin deep and makes no difference cause in 100 years we'll all be dead.Steve> Im proud to have come from jewish ancestry, but its because all the hardship that they went thru. I dont think any other relgion is better then another, because Most have suffered thru the ages.
-
In reply to: Congratulations. You spent a lot of your life contemplating something of little value. I disagree. Its deffinately worth thinking about...thats how we develope our opinions. If its an issue in the world around you and for the poeple around you (which for me it always has been) then its imperitive you think for yourself about it and dont just take what other people say for granted. If it werent for the fact that i really have thought about it alot, toyed wth many differnet aspects of it in my mind, then I would probably be very a ignorant person and a full-blown racist due to the enviroment in which I grew up. That would be unhealthy. Would it have been better for me not to think about it? to take for granted what people I grew up around said to me? No. In reply to: I'm not sure why people are proud things they had nothing to do with. I think we should be proud of what a fellow countrymen have achieved past and present and we should celebrate their achievements. Why? To inspire us to continue their legacy of success. In reply to: And how can you be proud of something unless you think it's superior? I'm proud of the B I got in ICT at school...the fact that some people got A's doesnt change that.
-
In reply to: Steve> Im proud to have come from jewish ancestry, but its because all the hardship that they went thru. I dont think any other relgion is better then another, because Most have suffered thru the ages. You should be proud of your heritage, though at the same time I dont believe you should have to justify it. We are all what we are and should stand up proud and not never be ashamed of it or let people of other groups tell us we are inferior. A thing I like about all the asians I've met is they are all proud of it and keep hold of their roots and never show shame about it. We should all feel were able to do that.
-
You should be proud of your heritage, though at the same time I dont believe you should have to justify it. We are all what we are and should stand up proud and not never be ashamed of it or let people of other groups tell us we are inferior.I dont feel i need to justify it, i was using an example. Steves never said anything i believe in is inferior, and just cause im proud i came from strong people doesnt mean i believe in the god they do. And no, i dont know the point of my post. lmao

Hopefully, after all that thinking, you came to the conclusion that the bigots you were surrounded by were morons, and that race as a physical characteristic is a superficial thing that's not worth a lot more mental cycles, unless you're a molecular bioligist.> I'm proud of the B I got in ICT at school...the fact that some people got A's doesnt change that.As I said, you should be proud of what you have accomplished. It may make you feel good that some other Welsh guy somewhere also got a good grade, or slaughtered a lot of [whatever] people in some battle, but it's quite pointless.Should I be proud that the Americans beat the British in the Revolutionary War (and others as well)? How about if my ancestors weren't in the country at the time?
-
In reply to: but it's quite pointless. You come accross as an outright cynic...everything is pointless from a cynicle viewpoint of life. In reply to: Should I be proud that the Americans beat the British in the Revolutionary War (and others as well)? How about if my ancestors weren't in the country at the time? Yes. They were YOUR people, part of your national community. The fact of the matter is I can find ways to be cynicle about absolutely everything. However that would be rather dull. So what I'm only a patriot for the pleasure of it? Well kinda. Patriotism is nothing but an elaborate form of self-flattery...hang on thats a very cynicle thing for me to say BUT I just dont care, I indulge my vanity as much as I choose and enjoy every minute of it. Cynicism makes life dull
-
Heres a poem I wrote about cynicism quite a while ago...its about the kind of "but its pointless" attitude you've presented to me, SteveA.http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/24817977/Its been very well recieved and been given good comments.
-
This whole argument is pointlessAnd i just spent 15 minutes fixing my damned space bar
-
In reply to: This whole argument is pointless I wont argue with that...afterall me and SteveA have done the rounds before and are just going over old ground Though it has enabled me to feel a distinct feeling of frustration at communicating with a bloody cynic, which its important to do everynow and then so as to remind myself why I avoid associating with them
-
In reply to: And i just spent 15 minutes fixing my damned space bar Did you have fun?
-
Sort of, See i started off cleaning it cause i have dirt between the keys, then i went to not knowing where the keys went, and then to trying to get the stupid space bar back and i did didnt want to go back, so i had to pound it in, and now i think i need a new keyboard. Phew.
-
nice.My keybourd sucks btw, I want new one. This one makes a detestable tapping sound as I type which is bothersome for anyone trying to watch TV here
-
but it's quite pointless.> You come accross as an outright cynic...everything is pointless from a cynicle viewpoint of life.Certainly when you're talking about race, the only point I can discern is to find something to be proud of.Part of evolving as a person is to find closure on matters that are amenable to closure, and move on to more important things. For example, getting stuck on the idea that 9 + 9 equals 18 is pointless.>> Should I be proud that the Americans beat the British in the Revolutionary War (and others as well)? How about if my ancestors weren't in the country at the time?> Yes. They were YOUR people, part of your national community.I'm happy that they prevailed. I'm not sure where pride comes into it. Does it mean that America is superior to Britain?> The fact of the matter is I can find ways to be cynicle about absolutely everything.Thatis fallacious logic. If I say "X is bad", that does not mean that I'm saying "everything is bad". Otherwise, nothing can be bad.> Patriotism is nothing but an elaborate form of self-flatteryHere we can agree. When someone says, "I'm a patriot", they're often really saying, "I'm proud to live in a country that was lucky enough to me born there."
-
Mine is really nice, its black with black letter keys, and the space there the letters are glows blue, i love it.Its my back up keyboard that got screwed up.
-
I see. Calling me a cyinic gets you off the hook of actually having to think and respond. You could have gotten the same traction by calling me a jerk or a moron. So, after you thought about race for a number of years, what new conclusions have you come to recently?
