Ch-Ch-Check it before you double wreck-it.http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org/Pages/detox.htmlScience is but an art, its very subjective. I work in HIV research so I'm fully aware of the sciences, but even science relies on personal experience and the logging of that information. Your comment supports my point:>>>People make observations, from which they tend to exptrapolate data that confirms their preconceptions. It has some value, but you need to be very careful when you generalize. This is true for scientists as well, that's why one day they're telling you one thing, and the next day something else, new findings have a lot to do with the experiences of one person, because if it happened ONCE, it can happen again.

Alcohol or Heroin/Marijuana

In spite of numerous years of being told that there are no physiological effects from marijuana addiction, many of our recovering members have had definite withdrawal symptoms. That's not very convincing. Sorry. A lot of people believe a certain thing, based on their subjective obseration, that turns out to be wrong.> Science is but an art, its very subjective. I work in HIV research so I'm fully aware of the sciences, but even science relies on personal experience and the logging of that information. Your comment supports my point:Are you a scientist? If you're talking about observing and understanding behavior (as opposed to a physical phenomenon), that is true--on the small scale, but knowledge is converged upon as studies improve and aggregate.> This is true for scientists as well, that's why one day they're telling you one thing, and the next day something else,Scientists are not doing that! It's the news media! It may be true that some scientists have axes to grind (they're just human), but when they jump to conclusions, they're not practicing science.> new findings have a lot to do with the experiences of one person, because if it happened ONCE, it can happen again. The problem is that the obserations can be wrong! They can be misenterpretations of subjective observations! They are wrong in the first place, and the observations that follow are wrong! It has happened a lot.Dude, science is not religion. Don't get them confused.I'm not aware of a body of data that shows that marijuana is physically addictive, even in the long term. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, but I'm not aware of it. If subjective observation is good enough, then a lot of people are getting anal-probed by aliens. A lot of people are certain that their illness is cured by some substance, which then turns out to be completely useless. A lot of people see angels dancing around their head. A lot of people are delusional.

Well, my misinformed friend, that's why LIFE is subjective, you have your opinion and I have mine. And 99.9% of people will agree with the person who has first hand experience, and not with the "well-informed WORLD AMANAC-type" some people claim to be.By the way, I never referrenced religion in my comparisons. Do I sense a little COMPLEX? maybe? Thats my observation and I'm logging it for future researchers to explore. I'm not a scientist, but I work side by side with them daily. I'm also not even a college graduate, but you can cast judgement on me, or accept things as they are. My experiences come from real life, testimonials, and talking to people. That's how a person finds out about life, living it, not reading about it.

If you deny that there's an objective reality, you'll never accomplish anything.
I'm glad that oncologists, molecular biologists, bridge bulders, and architects go on more than their "real world" experience. School learning has a place.
\> And 99.9% of people will agree with the person who has first hand experience
Correctness is not a matter of popularity. We don't vote on the value of pi.
When I use the word "religion", I mean it in its most general sense. -
I agree with everything you say, but I'm confused as to who "we" is? You and your army? I'm not here to fight with you, I'm letting you know my opinion. Ive accomplished more than the average person, and have nothng to show for it. So don't get so bent, life will dish out resistance, and if we don't go with it, we'll get pummeled. I'm not above anyone else as you aren't either. What we are talking about here is addiction, so back to the thread. (Someone post here, please)

I've also studied Tai Chi.Hopefully people will post some authoritive information, links, or references. Otherwise, it's like asking the man in the street his opinion on various types of chemotherapy for certain types of leukemia. I.e., not very useful.I get bent out of shape when people misunderstand, and make incorrect claims about, science. Understanding of science and mathematics in the U.S. is horrendously, atrociously poor. It's not being taught well, when it's taught at all. It's not on an equal footing with religion or other branches of philosophy, in describing and explaining the mechanisms of the physical world. It really does matter. It matters a lot.
