is it possible for morning sickness to occur 3 days after a woman gets pregnant?

Is it possible for morning sickness to...
-
Unlikely.
-
I just learned recently in my bio class, that morning sickness is actually a defence mechanism. It forces the woman to be choosy about what she eats thereby reducing the chances of her ingesting something harmfull to the baby. It's really like a false alarm that the body uses - it's annoying but it beats not having an alarm when you did ingest something bad. This could be the reason why thalidomide caused so much trouble way back when.Anyway, i know this had nothing to do with the op's questions but i felt like sharing . And no, i doubt that you can get morning sickness that early.

This could be the reason why thalidomide caused so much trouble way back when. You mean because it supresses the barfing reflex? Thalidomide itself is teratogenic (i.e., it directly causes malformations of the fetus).
-
every woman and every pregnancy is different, but saying that i don't think i have ever known anyone how has had morning sickness that early, im not sure its possible.............
-
Well with thelidomide, women didn't have morning sickness therefore were free to ingest anything, and if something got in that wansn't good, it caused defects. Sounds a little fuzzy i know, but it kind of made sense to me. I know a person who knows a person who's son is a thalidomide baby.
-
Thalidomide itself caused the defects. There are other anti-nausea drugs in use, some that are very effective, that don't lead to birth defects.
Actually, as Ineligible says, for Thlidomide, it's the inactive mirror image molecule that causes the problem. Both forms are created when the drug is synthesized. Nowadays the "bad" molecule can be separated out.

Lol you totaly could have said enantiomer and i would have known what you're talking about  I learned about them R and S configs. *feeling proud*
-
Err...you'll have to talk to Ineligible about that. He's the organic chem guy. I think I'm a quart low on carbon.
-
He's the organic chem guyOh really? Totaly radical! I have an organic chem exam on the 12th...so i if have questions, that's who i'll ask. He's alot easier to understand than my immigrant proffesor.
-
He's a free radical.
-
Homolytic breaker eh?
-
Is that something you have to come out of the closet for?
-
no not at all, it's more like a fair divorce...each gets half (of the bond that is...electrons...not house/cars..)
-
I'm happiest when I have just enough electrons, but I'd rather have too few than too many.
-
that would make you an electrophile.
-
Oops, you're right...I'd rather have a few too many than too few. I wouldn't want to be attracted to the wrong stuff.
-
well then you're a neucleophile..eitherway, you're unstable. You best find your self an acid/base reaction soon.
-
Faultless! Bravo!
