Two quick questions about creatine.I was told creatine + caffine = bad. Is this true? If so how bad, and how much caffine is too much? Also, I was told by same massive guy in the Gym that you should drink Creatine with Gatorade, or similar. Something in the gatorade makes the creatine work more effectively. Is this true too? I've been mixing powdered gatorade in with my creatine each time I drink it, don't see how it could hurt even if doesn't help. Finally, I'm currently on creatine and protein powder. Just curious are there any other suppliments out there that help? I've heard most are bogus. Not that I want or need anymore suppliments, I've just taken a big interest in muscle building etc. Thanks again for any input.

Creatine, and other suppliments

Creatine should be taken with sugar, and that's why Gatorade is a good choice to take it with. By increasing sugar levels in your blood, your body produces insulin which causes the sugar to enter your cells for storage. The transport of sugar from the bloodstream to your cells is essential in also transporting creatine in your cells. Without any sugar, the creatine won't enter your cells and have an affect. There's always sugar in your blood, but your body doesn't store sugar in your cells unless there's too much in your blood. As Helms said, caffeine dehydrates you. Your cells try to dilute the increased sugar concentrations in your blood before insulin is produced, so by mixing sugar and caffeine you're just further dehydrating your cells.

Grape JuiceContains fructose. High glycemic index.

I've never heard of glycemic index before. I would have thought that sucrose would have been a high glycemic index as well, but apparently it's not nearly as fast as fructose.I have a question though. Don't most juices have a high fructose concentration in them, such as orange juice and apple juice? Would they work as well as grape juice, or is there something else about grape juice that improves creatine absorption.I know this may be off topic, but what causes creatine to build muscle after it is absorbed?

When I used to take creatine I mixed it with my water and actually hydrated and consumed it while i worked out. Seem to work great, I also had a protein shake with some creatine in it. I never got so intense as to worrying about glycemic index.

I thought about taking Creatine but I was told that once you stop taking creatine the muscles will start to go away..true? After the new year I am going to start working out again, so this might be a good option to take with my protein shakes.

well my muscles went away from not working out...that is natural I would think.
