I have a question, is dry skin a common symptom with people who have HIV? I ask because people have told me it isnt and ive also read that it is.

Didn't that question come up in this thread? Are you seriously concerned that you have AIDS because you have a patch of dry skin on your penis?
-
First off, this question has nothing to do with the question I asked in the other room. I also have dry skin on my lower legs. Im asking a simple yes or no question, not looking for people's criticism
-
Some questions can't be meaningfully answered with a yes or a no. If you're asking whether an HIV infection can cause dry skin, I'm not aware of anything that says so...certainly not before other symptoms would be obvious. Advanced AIDS is associated with malnutrition, which can cause your skin to dry out.See what I'm saying? If you think you may be HIV+ because you have dry skin, you're grasping at straws. I don't think there is any meaningful connection between HIV and dry skin. The important question is, Have you been exposed to HIV? If so, then you need to get yourself tested. If not, then you are obviously not infected.
-
HIV, in and of itself does NOT cause dry skin, but it can lead to an opportunistic infection called Karposi's Sarcoma, which takes years to develop after contracting HIV, and after an AIDS diagnosis. So I highly doubt you have it. Hope this helps....
-
Did you get that information from "Go Ask Alice"? They conflate "malignancy" with "infection". Karposi's sarcoma "causes red or purple patches (lesions) on the skin and/or mucous membranes and spreads to other organs in the body, such as the lungs, liver, or intestinal tract."It's not dry skin.
-
No, SteveA, I got that information right outta my head. And of course Karposi's Sarcoma is not dry skin, that was the the closest thing to dry skin I could think of, but then I listed the reasons why it couldn't possibly be that.
-
It's probably not the best idea to give a hypochondriac new things to worry about.Malignancy and infection are two very different things.Dry skin is not a symptom of a brain tumor either.
-
STFU SteveA. I know you spend countless hours on this site and your laptop pretending you're important to those sitting around you, but you ain't fooling me. (That's my ghetto side talkin)
I'm not here to investigate people's "history" when I respond, nor do I look up an answer real quick before responding. I don't give a fu** how I'm perceived, and that's the main difference between you and ME.
-
I'm interested in correct information, especially where people's health in concerned. If you want to discuss how I suck, it would be better to do it in a different forum. If you want to discuss the topic of this thread, I would be happy to proceed.
-
Like I said, Your ass ain't fooling me, and if you think I was giving out wrong information, that proves how much you still have to learn in this world. "We" feel sorry for you.
-
You think an infection and a malignancy are the same thing? Fine. You think it's a good to give someone who appears to be overly worried about disease more (and irrelevant) things to worry about? Fine.I don't know what you think my ass is telling you, but being angry doesn't make you any more right.> how much you still have to learn in this worldFine, I'm a jerk. But 1 plus 2 still equals 3 (not 4), no matter how big a jerk I am.
-
You think an infection and a malignancy are the same thing? Fine.Since these are the only words that keep coming out the side of yo neck, and since these words were never used by me, here's your chance to explain it to us. What's the difference, Doc?Hold up, Do NOT ask alice or jeeves or anyone else. Explain this from your head, if you can.
-
Explain this from your head, if you can. Waste of time. What I think they mean doesn't really matter to anyone. Calm down. If you're really interested in what those words mean, you can easily look them up.
-
Umm Hmm. Just as I thought. Your posts would have a whole different connotation if it weren't for Google. BTW, Im not mad at you. I accept ignorance as part of life.
-
Yup, I'm just a stupid ignoramous. When you get information, you have to consider the source, and not just believe things because they appear on an anonymous Web forum.
-
Yup, I'm an empty box. It's Google that's stupid and ignorant. And you're my favorite little troublemaker. Does anyone know what "connotation" means?
-
No, but I could look it up...=)
-
Sorry, I'm getting stupider every day. I don't even know how to use a dictionary any more.
