TRICKED YOU! Bet you were going to expect a post about some sort of pill....Well, I'm not fat. I'm actually pretty skinny. But I've always had those 3-5 pounds of stuff that could just use to go away. I did cross country over the summer, and lost alot of fat. I'm starting to do cardio (running for about 30 mins, mostly), and I just want to know a few things:1.) Cold water-speeds up your metabolism. true or false.2.) What foods accelerate fat loss. I know foods high in fiber are pretty good, but what else is there. I'm no dietician, and unless anyone here is, I doubt I'm going to have a plan to follow, besides eating better. Thanks!

In reply to: I've nver heard of the cold water thing speed up matabolism, except that your body will burn more calories trying to warm up and maintain temperature That's what I meant .I'm not really asking what food I can eat to lose weight, just basically a food that will aid in my workouts.I'm not really interested in supplements, but it might as well be something I can look into.

Ok I googled it
In a nutshell, diet supplements are just forms of caffiene that just speeds up metabolism....
wouldn't that dehydrate you though? \

I was going to say that stimulants like caffeine and other stuff speed up your metabolism, although I don't know if it's enough to have any useful effect on your weight. But the do help supress your appetite. If you take amphetamines, you tend not to be very hungry. And you're right, caffeine tends to drive water out of your body (but then so does sugar, to a lesser extent). The bottom line is that looking for food that will "burn calories" is a loser's game. If you want to lose weight, you need to consume fewer calories than you burn. Exercising will increase the base rate that burn calories, so exercise has an even more positive effect than just what you burn while you're doing it.Amphetamine will supress your appetite. There are substances that will mess up your thyroid, which will increase your metabolism. There may be things in research labs that will reduce hunger without side effects. But your best bet is to exercise, limit your caloric intake, and eat a healthy variety of foods so that you're not deficient in any necessary nutrient.Edit: I like cayenne pepper because it tastes good!

Well, I wasn't look for food that burns calories, maybe to supress appetite....
To tell you the truth, I didn't really know what to ask. So I tried :P
