Hey guys! Sorry I havn't been here in awhile. I got a job 5 days a week, and joined the drumline, which is 4 hour practice 6 days a week. Anyway...At my school, since the begining of the year we have had 16 lockdowns. (For those of you that don't know, a lockdown is when no one leaves or comes into a classroom, and you sit on the floor in the dark with the blindes closed) These lockdowns have been the result of many, so called "prank calls". Some bomb threats, some threats against students, and so on. Now, I know the lockdowns are ment to keep us safe, but let me repeat myself, because of a BOMB THREAT we were in lockdown, does that make any sense? The first time there was a school shooting threat called into this school, they let us roam the halls as if nothing happend, the next day, bomb threat, locked down for 2 hours. It seems they don't lock us down for the right reasons sometimes, the times it could keep us safe. They take chances I guess. As if that's not enough, the school never tells us what happens, we see it on the news or read about it in the newspapers, and the parents also aren't notified unless it shows up on the news. Anyway, I'm at my whitts end here with all of these lockdowns, so if anyone could lend some sort of ideas, maybe not to prevent them, but just to deal with it, I'd really appericate that.

That's certainly a lot of lock downs. Has your school put in medal detectors? Restricted access to the school? I think there is a lot a school can do to be more secure these days.Unfortunately even if there are bomb threats they might still have to do lock down.. but what I don't get is why are they doing lock downs for a bomb threat?? When I was in school and we had a bomb threat we were evacuated OUT of the school.. not "locled" in. Very odd.

At a board meeting they discussed metal detectors, but deccided for the money it would cost, it wasn't worth the hassle. We have guards at every single door at our school now, but the thing is, they don't do any good, when we are walking through the halls they don't even check passes. And yeah, having a lockdown because of a bomb threat makes no sense, once they seriously thought there was a bomb, they had to wait for the bomb dogs from the airport to come in to check the school out, ut we were never evacuated.

We haven't had any bomb threats around here, but I'm pretty sure our school administrators would do the same thing. They don't seem to be too bright, which scares me. You're supposed to learn from smart people who think, not dumb ones who don't care. GO DRUMLINE!
