I know, you all are going to get on and think "Oh dear god she must have robbed starbucks and been on a caffine rampage making a hundred threads" No. This is the last one, and its worth it. COFFEE IS HEALTHY! HAH! I knew it! Ok, so all my life i have been hearing how unhealthy coffee is. I will now procede to prove you wrong. (I did a paper on it, and i found a very usefull site to help with it) Ok, so. Please visit this think: http://www.coffeescience.org/ That proves my point I have been trying to make since i was 12. My aunt doesn't let her daughter have ANY caffiene at all, and shes 23 now and still doesn't. She is twitchy and is showing signs of colon cancer. This could have been avoided if she could have had coffee in her life. Alright anyway, When ever i have a cup of coffee around them they are always talking about how horrible it is for them, Well, Now i have all my research (not just from that site, google 'coffee health' and you'll come up with a lot) I can tell them all the benefits. Now, I will shut up and try to come off a coffee induced psycho episode.

YAY thanks for that hon, since coffee is half of my daily input of either food or drink i feel so much better now LOL
-
i love coffee

There may be good points but there are still a few downsides. Coffee may not be bad for you say drunk once a day (Thats probrably bad for you even) but it can become bad for you if used excesivly and can potentualy become an addiction :/. Caffine is pretty addictive I know alot of people who are hooked on it my one friend drinks so much it makes him twitch lol. So yeah coffee isnt too bad if used in moderation but when used excesivly it can start to harm your health.
-
Caffine is pretty addictiveI agree with that.> I know alot of people who are hooked on it my one friend drinks so much it makes him twitchThat reminds me of Tweek on South Park.> Coffee may not be bad for you say drunk once a day (Thats probrably bad for you even)It's hard to say definitively one way or the other, but a lot of reasearch points to coffee's having protective properties against certain diseases (including certain types of cancer). It apparently has antioxident properties, like dark chocolate and tea.I don't think there's much evidence that (for most people) that a cup or two of coffee a day is not harmful. But it is pretty easy to get hooked on caffeine.

I guess it depends on how much needs to be drank to reap the benefits and how much has to be drunk to get the bad things. Also could these good minerals be gotten from anything else? There is quite alot of variables involved I guess before somone can really say that its good for you as such. I am not a big coffee drinker, I like tea myself. Thats probrably bad fro me also though ^^
-
> Also could these good minerals be gotten from anything else?
They're not really minerals. They're organic chemicals. It's hard to say whether you can find them elsewhere. The problem is, it's not hard to do studies on coffee drinking, but it's hard to figure out what all of the complex chemicals are that constitute the brew.
There may even be benefits from caffeine itself. There is good evidence (not proof) that small amounts of alcohol are beneficial to your health. But I'd be more concerned about alcohol addiction than caffeine addiction.
Since when are Mormons allowed to drink coffee and tea, much less alcohol?

Steve, steve, I said I was a Morman but never said I was a good one. I believe it yet dont follow it. Why you ask? Well I honestly dont know. Lazyness maybe, lack of caring about much. Maybe I have just accepted the fact I wont go to heaven and have given up.
>But I'd be more concerned about alcohol addiction than caffeine addiction.
I guess with any addiction it depends on the person. Some people get addicted to things very quickly where as others dont. I am far from addicted with alcohol. In some ways I want to quit but then when my friends go out to the pub what do I do? Go to have a coke? Being the sober one sucks I would rather just stay home. It almost seems like I am wierd for not enjoying being hammered as much as everyone else seems to.
Thread hijacked? I think so, good job steve our work is done for the night.

A caffine addiction isnt that bad...so what? I whiten my teeth once every two months and brush every morning. I dont smoke, never really drink much. Its not really harming me.
-
Depends how badly addicted you are to it and how much you consume. If its to the point like my friend that it makes you shake and twitch I garentee thats doing damage. Here is what I found some of the side effects of caffine are, obviosly 1 person will not feel them all but some of these side effects could happen after alot of use of the drug. 1. Energy swings or periods of fatigue during the day 2. Mood swings or periods of depression during the day 3. Headaches 4. Gastrointestinal distress; cramping, diarrhea 5. Constipation and/or dependence on caffeine for bowel movement (Ha ha ha OMG that one is funny, Deidry I need a shit put the kettle on!)6. Tension or stiffness in your neck, shoulders, jaw, hands, legs or stomach 7. Premenstrual Syndrome; menstrual irregularity, cramps, sore breasts8. Painful/sensitive lumps in the breast (I dont quite get that one, sounds more like cancer than caffine side effects)9. Insomnia 10. Clenching the jaw or grinding teeth during sleep 11. Anxiety 12. Irritability, including inappropriate "fits" of anger 13. Involuntary movement in the leg (restless leg syndrome) 14. Irregular or rapid heartbeat 15. Lightheadedness/dizziness 16. Wake up feeling tired 17. Generalized pain (back pain, stomach pain, muscle aches) 18. High blood pressure 19. Ulcers 20. Anemia 21. Shortness of breath 22. Difficulty concentrating and/or memory loss 23. Ringing in the ears 24. Coldness in the extremities, especially fingertips 25. Hand tremorWhere as coffee may be good for you the caffine in it isnt and is still and addictive drug that shouldnt be abused. No addiction "isnt that bad" addictions can disrupt or stop you leading a healthy and happy life no matter what the addiction is. For me if I had alot of caffine it would make my tinnitus alot worse.I guess you saying a caffine addiction isnt that bad is like a smoker saying a cigarete addiction isnt that bad. If you over use any drug it will catch up with you sooner or later. My friend who is addicted to caffine has nearly all of these side effects and after reading it it makes alot of sense. Personaly after reading this I would say caffine effects his life in a big fucking way, to the point that he really needs to cut down or he is going to fuck it up.
-
Also I think caffine damages your liver if used excesively? But dont take my word on that one I am just too tired to do more research.
-
I dont get any of those, where yea i think smoking a ciggarette is a lot worse Why?TarIrritation of the trachea (windpipe) and larynx (voice box).Reduced lung function and breathlessness due to swelling and narrowing of the lung airways and excess mucus in the lung passages.Impairment of the lungs' clearance system, leading to the build up of poisonous substances, which results in lung irritation and damage.Increased risk of lung infection and symptoms such as coughing and wheezing.Permanent damage to the air sacs of the lungs.Raised blood pressure and heart rate.Constriction (tightening) of blood vessels in the skin, resulting in a drop in skin temperature.Less oxygen carried by the blood.Stickier blood, which is more prone to clotting.Damage to the lining of the arteries, which is thought to be a contributing factor to atherosclerosis (the build-up of fatty deposits on the artery walls).Reduced blood flow to extremities like fingers and toes.Increased risk of stroke and heart attack due to blockages of the blood supply. The immune system doesn't work as well. The person is more prone to infections. It takes longer to get over an illness.Tightening of certain muscles.Reduced bone density.Irritation and inflammation of the stomach and intestines.Increased risk of painful ulcers along the digestive tract.Reduced ability to smell and taste.Premature wrinkling of the skin.Higher risk of blindness. Gum disease.Lower sperm count.Higher percentage of deformed sperm.Reduced sperm mobility.Changed levels of male sex hormones.Reduced fertility.Menstrual cycle irregularities or absence of menstruation.Menopause reached one or two years earlier.Increased risk of cancer of the cervix.Greatly increased risk of stroke and heart attack if the smoker is aged over 35 years and taking the oral contraceptive pill.Increased risk of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.Low birth weight, which may have a lasting effect of the growth and development of children. Low birth weight is associated with an increased risk for early puberty, and in adulthood is an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes.Increased risk of cleft palate and cleft lip.Paternal smoking can also harm the foetus if the non-smoking mother is exposed to passive smoking. If the mother continues to smoke during her baby's first year of life, the child has an increased risk of ear infections, respiratory illnesses such as pneumonia, croup and bronchitis, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and meningococcal disease.Cancer of the lung, mouth, nose, voice box, lip, tongue, nasal sinus, oesophagus, throat, pancreas, bone marrow (myeloid leukaemia), kidney, cervix, ureter, liver, bladder and stomach.Lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema.Coronary artery disease, heart disease, heart attack and stroke.Ulcers of the digestive system.Osteoporosis and hip fracture.Poor blood circulation in feet and hands, which can lead to pain, and in severe cases gangrene and amputation.
-
Well yeah obviousy smoking is alot worse I was just using it as a kind of loose comparisant saying that as with most addictions it will catch up with your sooner or later. But I'm not saying caffine is bad its just not good to be addicted to it.
-
this morning, I had no coffee just to see if i was addicted to it and i did get a little bit of a head ache, but that was all.I just noticed i spelt coffee wrong in the title
-
He he that you did, luckly I have my new spiffy spell checker to stop me doing stuff like that.Well anyway it depends how much caffine youre having, I dont know your dailey amounts but your body must be becoming kinda reliant on it that you got a headace. But its not exactly a drug you get easily addicted too but can be a hard one to get off of.You gave up your morning coffee on Christmas day? you should have been splashing out and having 10 coffees!!!! He he you would have been unwrapping like a mad thing!
-
