AppleJuice, I still strongly urge you to talk to a counsellor or teacher - yet another reason is that teachers have much more respect for, and are kinder to, and give more slack to, students they know are trying even if they are struggling, than students who just don't try. Teachers are human too, and knowing their work is being taken seriously means a lot to them, even if a student is having trouble with it.But leaving that aside for the moment, my experience is that good intentions don't take you very far, but what works best is to control your work environment. If there are too many distractions in your room, try to go somewhere where there are fewer - perhaps some corner of the house or yard, perhaps somewhere where you are under observation - whatever you find works best. Perhaps you can do more of your work at school. Set aside particular times for study, and use them for nothing else. Write lots of notes - when you are told about some assignment, write a note to yourself what you have to do. Get into the habit of writing down everything important. If there's something you don't understand, ask about it. Asking questions is good.

What i was trying to say is the way he was talking it seemed as if he thought the only way he can do things is with pills. Cmon are you tell me that none of have ever convinced yourself that you could or couldnt do something? Convince being the keyword. People do it all the time, psychiatrists make a living off of trying to explain to people that their minds are more powerful than they think. Im not saying that in no way possible does he not need pills nor will he never, and if he goes to a doctor the doctor is stupid to say he needs them. What im trying to say is that he needs to try on his own, without the pills and see if he can do it. I believe that if he buckles down and trys he can succeed doing anything he wants. If he has trouble remembering, then usea planner, Set up a system so you get used to doing that everyday, rather than leaving out steps. I just dont want to see another person in this world using meds if there is a slight chance they can do it on their own by using a little thing called effort.

Well at school today i tried really hard to pay attention it worked somewhat, but it doesnt feel the same as when im on meds, well becuase i stayed attetive during half the class but half way through i could'nt stand the urge to start patting my knee looking around the room, looking at everything that makes a sound.Trust me ata7 its hard.

Sweetie, I understand how you are feeling. My son has ADHD too. I explained in another thread how an assignment that should take an hour would take him two. He still got good grades, but he really struggled and when everything was done, I don't think he really comprehended what he had just learned. With medication he actually pays attention and understands what he is learning. His fidgety tendancies are also under control.I think a guidence counselor would be able to help you better or even your teacher. I really don't understand why your mom will not listen to you or the school.Good luck! And thank you Ineligible for what you said.

I know its hard, im not doubting you at all. Look sometimes i honestly think i have Adhd. I find myself always having to be on the move, in class i can never pay attention. When i read i never comprehend anything. Im forgetful at times, i dont know i think im in ur shoes half the time. But for my forgetfulness i got a planner, its helped ALOT. in class i force myself to pay attention. i mean lets face it, we all hate school, and going into it knowing you hate it doesnt help the situation. I wasnt tryin to be mean with my earlier posts, i just get frustrated when people rely on medication for everything. I just feel strongly that people can do things without meds if they really put their heart to it. thats why im hoping that if you stick with it, try your hardest, and dont give up in frustration if it doesnt work right away, that you will be able to conquer this.

Actully during class when i started to drift off i thought of what you said and i just slapped myself in the face and started paying attention.

"I've talked to my mom about it breifly but theres no way she will ever put me back on meds"I read so much here except why your Mom won't put you back on the meds.... Did you abuse them or something? Whats the real story?
