I'm interested in learning a new language... besides English... Which one is easier to learn? I'm thinking about German.. But i wanted to learn Russian before... Is it hard to learn both? Also, Are the disks on eBay good for learning? or does anyone know where there is a book?

German or Russian?
-
Dunno but German is more useful :S
-
italian is better
-
Blah, take Chinese.

If this is an extra on top of schoolwork, FaBMX, I'd advise concentrating on schoolwork. To learn any language requires a lot of work. However, if it's for school next year, I think you'll find German easier. For a start, for Russian you'll have to learn a whole new alphabet. It also has more complex grammar, and is linguistically further from English.

You and Italian!!! LOL!
-
I got about 30 minutes a day.. I could work on it... Just take it out of the computer... Which is no big deal
-
Take German!! German Rocks!! So does German People!!!
-
I inquired about that with the language advisor here at Tech, she advised German because Russian is easier to learn after taking German.

I took 4 yrs of German and I speak a Slavic language. Trust me you'll do much better taking German. There are many similarities between German and English as they come from the same language branch. Slavic is totally unrelated. Plus you'd have to learn the Cyrillic alphabet which would immensly complicate things.

he so wollen Sie Deutsche lernen?

I couldn't agree more, lol.

Take Latin. It's the roots of many English words (though not being as usefull in modern society) you get to translate awesome works like the Aeneid. Latin owns; alas, Jacta alea est.
-
Take German. I can speak Russian, but it seems others have problem learning it. When I hear someone try to say something, they always say it wrong. And then there is too much of a problem writing and stuff. And then with femanen and maskulent words its a pain in the @$$. Just take something easy. Like Spanish!

All German nouns are feminine, masculine or neutral. English is quite easy grammatically.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.. Looks like I will give German a whirl... Everyone at school knows English..and some spanish .. They don't offer German at school.. nor Russian.. and I found those two countries interesting ( nothing to do with Hitler ) German could be more useful to me.. If I join the military... I could be stationed in Germany.. But on top of it all... I would be the few if, not the only, one who knows German
