I'm going to Canada tomorrow to drink and gamble all weekend long. Does anyone have any experience crossing the border? The last time I entered/left Canada was over 15 years ago and I don't remember much because I was a child then. Like what kind of papers/ID should I bring? Can I bring bottles of liqour back (I'm 20)? Should I expect any delays/additional inquiry? And you only have to be 19 to drink/gamble/buy tobacco right? Is that 19 being a Canadian citizen or can a U.S. citizen exercise these rights as well?

Going 2 Canada
-
I went to Canada in August 2001 with my sis dad and some of his friends. If you live in warm regions or not so cold you should bring some warm clothes. I was cold when I went but it wasn't that bad. I crossed over the border from Buffalo New York to over there and Niagra Falls is great. Loads of fun. You might have to bring ID I'm not sure they didn't look at ours. Don't know about liqour or anything like since I've never had to deal with it But you should be all set to have a good time. What is your avatar?
-
What is your avatar? It's a distored (because it's big and non-square) out-of-focus 15 KB image of a drug paraphenalia item. The gentleman who put it up doesn't know how to crop an image, or doesn't care to.This is what the U.S. State Department Web site says:In reply to:CANADA - Passport or proof of U.S. citizenship such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, and photo ID required. Minors (under 16) traveling alone or in someone else's custody must present written authorization, signed before a notary, from the parent(s) or guardian. Visas are not required. Canadian immigration officials at ports of entry will issue persons planning to stay longer than 180 days a visitor's record. Anyone with a criminal record (including a DWI charge) should contact the Canadian Embassy or nearest Consulate General before travel. U.S. citizens entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport. HIV testing required for resident applicants who are over 15. A temporary resident applicant requires immigration medical examination if stay exceeds 6 months or seeking to work in Canada. For student or business travel, check with the Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001 (202/682-1740) or nearest Consulate General: CA (213/346-2701), MI (313/567-2085), NY (212/596-1700 or 716/858-9501), or WA (206/443-1375). Internet: www.canadianembassy.orgIt's easiest if you bring a passport. You'd better watch out if you have a felony conviction, or if you're on a terrorist watch list. The criminal laws should apply to everyone equally. If you're 19, you should be able to do whatever it's legal to do for a Canadian citizen when he's 19, short of applying for welfare benefits.

Oh... wowI finally got my passport. It looks so American ugh. I look like I'm high though my sis keeps laughing at it. One more step closer to Japan. Yay!
-
where are you (or did you) cross?
-
We crossed through Buffalo, the Canadian Customs lady was a real bitch trying to ask trick questions. I had some fun with the drinking age, except they stop selling bottles of liqour or beer in stores after 10:00 PM so I had to drink at the hotel bar or the casino where it's $5.75 CD for a weak as hell drink. I'm paying 6 bucks they don't have to be that stingy with the liqour. Seriously, they must use an eye dropper to measure shots. So $195 USD or $217 CD was gone in about 10 hours mostly spent on expensive drinks. I could have easily brought back guns, knives, drugs, or alcohol back into the U.S., the guy didn't even look at our IDs he just asked our citizenship and if we were carrying any goods.
-
You can get very strong beer in Canada.> the guy didn't even look at our IDs he just asked our citizenship and if we were carrying any goodsThat's a real crap shoot. My friend and I zipped across the border into New Hampshire, but some other folks were having their car torn apart. They didn't look any weirder than we did...just a bit browner.
-
Maybe I just went to the wrong area of Canada but the drinks were just a ripoff, even a beer was $5.00 Canadian. But they did serve beer at Denny's, I don't think they do that in the U.S. Other than that it was a fun trip, just sucked having to spend all my money to get drunk.
-
Why did you have to go to Canada to get drunk? You seem to have no trouble getting bottles of liquor at home. There might have been other interesting things to do there.
-
Where did u go?
-
I went to Niagara Falls. Yeah I could've gotten drunk at home but I had a free weekend to go somewhere. Plus we don't have casinos here that allow under-21. Friday night we partied, Saturday morning we had a chance to see the stuff around and buy some overpriced refridgerator magnets.

I took a bunch of pictures too with my $20 shitty digital camera from Wal-Mart.http://images2.pictiger.com/images/0c/cb793db4de534359856a132fd167a90c.jpg http://images2.pictiger.com/images/d7/b93c8dba23099a4f27e7e37e83ec45d7.jpghttp://images2.pictiger.com/images/fa/b20377ce24792032209f4c01aeb1e6fa.jpghttp://images2.pictiger.com/images/b2/89ba936962e58b51e25bc398660644b2.jpg Edited by amz - I changed your pictures to links for people on dial up

That's much better than the $20 digital camera I got at Wal*Mart, even after I edited the photos.
-
I just bought a digital camera at Wal-Mart last night. But it was $130.
-
You chose a shitty weekend to come down on
-
don't you mean "coming up?"
-
Did you "go down", or did you "come up"? In either case, you probably didn't go for the outdoor activities.
-
