It all started when I noticed a burning sensation (not that painful) while urinating. I was also letting off a white milky discharge from my penis. I would leave a brownish-yellow stain in my underwear. The head of my penis (inside the urethra seemed to be red and a bit swollen. I had no trouble urinating and urinating too frequently was not an issue either. I went to the doctor and was given a urine test. After the urine was found to be contaminated, I agreed to be tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. That same day the doctor prescribed me a 7 day supply of antibiotics (doxycycline). I began the antibiotics and then two days later the test came in. I tested negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. I decided to finish the antibiotics anyway. About one day after the antibiotics were finished, all of my symptoms went away. I thought everything was fine, but two weeks later (out of nowhere) the exact same symptoms started up again. The condition really isn’t that painful, but I still know that something is not right! The condition seems to improve a bit when I drink lots of water. Before I got the symptoms for the second time my girlfriend performed oral sex on me when she had strep throat (she didn’t know she had it). I don’t know if this might have been a cause of my recent symptoms. I guess my question is, what might this be? Or, if it was cured by the antibiotics then how am I contracting it again?Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wasn't an STD, Now what?

Chances are that you do have some type of infection that was knocked down by the antibiotics but never cured. Drinking lots of fluid helped to keep the infection "diluted" and is a standard course of action when you have a bladder infection and are taking medication. You might want to go back to your doctor for another (longer) treatment of antibiotics as you may also have contracted strep.

There's certainly some form of infection. Occasionally tests for STDs can produce false negatives, but it may be infection by an unusual bacterium for the area - and it looks like one that is rather resistant to Doxycyline. The antibiotic probably got rid of most of the bacteria (so your symptoms stopped) but not quite all, so when there was no more antibiotic they started multiplying again and the symptoms came back. It looks like a different antibiotic is needed, so you definitely need to go back to your doctor and explain what's happened.

Here is the Update: I went back to the doctor and they did another urine test. They said that the WBC count of the urine was lower than before, but there were still some there. The doctor gave me a 10 day supply (1 tablet a day) of Ciprofloxacin.

Thanks for the update. We all have to learn from each other. Cipro should do the trick.
