Hi, I am a freshman in high school. For the last 2 weeks in school I have noticed that whenever I am trying to read something from a distance like the chalkboard or the overhead I have to "squint" to see it. I have never had to squint at stuff in my life and I am kind of hoping this will go away by itself. I am really not taking it as a big deal, although one of my teachers said she sees me "squinting my eyes really bad reading the chalkboard", so I don't know what to tell her, because I have never experienced having to squint before. Does anyone know if this problem will go away by itself? Should I tell my parents or call a doctor? I am just kind of hoping it goes away. Thanks

Whats wrong with me???

it may be as simple as getting ur eyes checked. You may need glasses. A friend of mine had a SIMILAR problem when he was at school and he needed specs.

It means you're getting near-sighted. You need to get your eyes checked. Chances are that you'll need glasses or contacts. It should also make playing sports a lot easier.

Yeppers.... Just as Steve has said... You need to get your eyes checked out... Sounds like your vision is going bad. You might need glasses or contacts...

Short-sightedness tends to appear at your age. It did for me. It will probably get gradually worse over the teen years until it settles down. Get glasses or contacts and you'll be amazed at the difference.

And it's nothing to worry about. You get to wear cool specs and be all hip. Or you wear contacts which are not a big deal either. If you go to the eye doctor and get either, you will be amazed at how clearly you can see. I remember seeing individual blades of grass for the first time. Cool.

i have the same problem, anyone know how much contacts would cost me ... im too afraid to say i have bad eyes ... but now i know i do as i can't read alot of things i used to ... stop signs are brutal for me

stop signs are brutal for me don't you basically just need to be able to distinguish the basic shape and color of a stop sign to know that it's a stop sign? How many other road signs are red octagons? To the OP, I'm am near-sighted and got my new glasses just a week ago - loving them! I can see everything I just wear them to lectures and sometimes to watch tv. It's not a big deal at all, just make an appointment with an Optometrist and he'll check you eyes and give you a persciption. Good luck.

i mean the white writing on the stop sign ... its like double ...
