I didn't think this was serious at all when it first started happening but obviously it's come to that now. For a couple of days... weeks... 2-3 weeks I have been having this little problem with collapsing, and no I'm not just clumsy. But whenever it happens I first get really heavy like I all of a sudden feel like I'm overweighed with something and then I get light headed and then I can't feel my legs and I collapse. When this first started happening I would still be conscious when it happened and now this past week when it happens I am not conscious. It honestly and truly didn't seem like a big deal to me at all. I don't know why, I should have taken notice but I think I just lost my mind with all the crappinessnessness happening at that school of mine. Unfortunately, today when I was walking home with my friends we were going to go check out some mall and we were crossing 233rd street and all of a sudden I just passed out. Like totally blacked out. Well first I got light headed and had no idea what my friend was asking me all I heard was "check out those..." and the rest was a blur from there. I guess you could call it "serious". The worst thing that could have happened was getting run over by a car but even that didn't affect me. And those people will most definatly not stop there car for some kid. Once the light's green either you're across the street or not lol. But yah I woke up around 4 so it must have been an hour (which has been the longest time so far) and I was at my friends house and she was freaking out and so was her mom and they called my dad over. I don't know why it happened though. I know it's not fatigue because I wouldn't just pass out because I'm tired. I don't know it's really weird and it happens so randomly, I don't want it to happen again at the wrong time in the wrong place, LIKE CHEMISTRY (GOD!). The weird thing is that I'm not taking it seriously like it's no big deal. Not even now. Either I'm sick or I've got some major serious issues. My mom said I need to be oncerned and wants me to go to a doctor and my sister said I'm just plain weird, rude one. I don't want to go to the doctor, it doesn't seem necessary. And I hate the hospital, doctor, needles, etc it just creeps me out. It's not hot here in fact it's freezing like the next Ice Age so it's not that. I don't think I'm depressed or anything but that doesn't even make sense either. So ah... what's going on? I don't know what it is so if you have any idea that would be... great. First couple of times it happened was at school in maybe chemistry a few times and geometry and got in trouble because they thought I was sleeping. But honestly, who doesn't? The other times would be at home but nobody took it seriously because they think I'm a drama queen and would "expect that" from Abi. Thanks family. Once or twice at my bf's house and the other few times just hanging out with friends or working at children's church and dance class. Never during any sports or games. I don't know if that helps. Maybe I'm losing my mind... could be. Who knows I just need a clue.

Passing out
-
It could be very low blood pressure. Have you checked it lately? Do you notice getting light-headed when you stand up very quickly? If you're a teenager, and your weight is low, and you don't consume much salt, low blood pressure in general is a real possibility. You need to get to a drug store and check it out. They usually have a chair with built-in blood pressure checker near the pharmacy counter. In any case, passing out is not normal. You should really see a doctor about it. The next time it happens, someone may call an ambulance.
-
Blood pressure, that's what I forgot. Yeah maybe I should check that out. I do notice that I do get light headed sometimes in classes, probably because I'm rushing to get out. Thanks for pointing that out. How would they solve that problem though? Low blood pressure. I haven't been to the doctors since early December to get a flu shot so I'm not sure. edit: The only salt I've had is from chips... if that counts. Salt and vinegar chips, that's not healthy is it?
-
> How would they solve that problem though?
Gain weight. Eat salt. Don't stand up rapidly. I'm not sure what else.
-
i dont know if its the same thing but i always got very light headed just before i stood up/got out of bed etc rather than spontaneous incidents. the doctor told me it was quite common for teenage girls who are fairly slim and tall because your bloood doesnt have enough time to pump itself to your head, hence you get lightheaded. like i say i dont know if thats what you have but you should defantly go to your doctor to check blood pressure and maybe a blood test(maybe your anaemic?)
-
Japanfan….You’re a smart girl... Have it looked at now!You didn't say if you were taking any meds.... they sometimes affect your BP. I agree with Steve. Low Blood pressure can be a huge factor....Don't mess around with this. Seek medical attention ASAP
-
Thanks I'll look into it. Mazkat < I am anaemic actually I guess that has something to do with it also. It's weird because sometimes my eyes are yellow which looks kind of creepy since my eyes turn hazel/greenish when that happens... but I'm not that tall unless 5'5 is considered tall. I'll go check it out.

I dont know if anyone else has said this yet cuz right after i read first few sentances i know exactly what your problem is... this happend to me like all the time during summer, after lying on the couch for an hour or soo and u get up quickly and if u dont take any breaths u will instantly collapse and fall face first on ground and u hardly dont even feel anything, then u will loose sight temporarly and hear a ringing or just hear nothing, and usualy some random memory of mine will just pop into my head... or sometimes i dont get a memory when im unconscious like that, instead I would come up with a brilliant idea, like for example "maybe people would save money if they bought seperate nuts instead of mixed ones and mixed them them selves at home " man after a while i learned exactly how to do it and master and i would time it so after i got up off the couch I would take a few steps and i would land on automan and it felt like for 5 seconds everything was perfect i was doing it everyday like 3 times a day i loved it. but i probably should warn u not do this cuz it probably isnt safe. i quit doing it after a time i messed up and i fell backwareds and smashed through my moms coffe table and a whole bunch of glasses on it. my mom was like wtf?

This worries me a bit.

It sounds like your blood pressure is very low (assuming there's not some other odd thing going on). When was the last time you had your blood pressure measured? When was your last checkup?
-
So you mean... like um...you... what?
-
I start my next semester on friday and i have biology,im gonna ask my teacher about this, but im pretty sure it has something to do with, in my case, the blood rushing to your head too fast when u stand up really quickly and maybe there is no blood to in the rest of your body and that is why i fall down, and with all the extra blood rushing to my head, my brain goes into over drive, and i loose consciousness, and maybe thats why i get random memorys or good ideas??? thats my theory anyway and im pretty sure its safe cause I used to do it alot
-
When i get up really fast i get all woozy but i dont pass out. Could that mean that i have low blood pressure?
-
The blood doesn't rush to your head; it rushes out of your head. It's not your body that feels dizzy, it's your brain. When you get up, your head is going up, but a lot of the blood that was in it stays behind. It's because your blood pressure is low. It's kind of like having low water pressure in your house. If your blood pressure is so low that you're falling down, it could be a problem. Things like anemia can add to the effect. Can't you get your blood pressure taken? Pretty much every drug store has a free blood pressure machine, usually near the pharmacy. You sit in a chair, put your arm in a cuff, and push a button. It's easy.
-
I have done that before, my blood preassure fell in the average range
-
I suspect it would be below average if you took it while you were relaxing on your couch. In any case, it's hard to get useful information if you only take it once.Whatever it is, it's not good that you fall over if you get up too quickly. You can get a serious head injury if you fall in the wrong place.
-
yea thats why i dont do it anymore lol
