I had the patch for 3 months and I hated it. It was always falling off and getting that gross black sticky stuff all around it (like when you have a bandaid on for too long). Plus, it was always falling off. I wore it on my butt becuase anywhere else people can see it when you're in a bathing suit. Overall, the patch made me feel wierd during sex too; it's this big unattractive square that got dirty after 3 days then my boyfriend would stare at it. I don't know what birth control method is right for you but I would strongly reccommend you to not take the patch.

Nuva Ring vs. The patch.
-
O.o Thats really realyl strange. My hasnt fallen off or get dirty and i wear it on my abdomen...Do you have oily skin or something?

I have heard bad things about the patch recently. Actually, it was about a month ago they sent out a 'Warning' about the patch at my work. There has been an increase in strokes, blood clots, DVT's etc.
-
True. The patch may not be a good choice for long-term use.

I am actually considering a new form of bc, since i'll be on the pill for 2 years in June... it's still far but i would like to know other alternatives before i'm done with the pill. I know i don't want the patch, but i'm thinking of the Nuva ring...i don't wanna make an appt with my doc right now, but i want to see what nuva users have to say about it. The website wasn't much help...do you not feel it inside you ? doesn't the penis bump into it? does it have the same hormones and amounts as most pills? can i just switch from the pill to the ring with out a break? General opinion and comments too please!

i wonder if it can get lost in there or something lmao like what if you cant get it out

Iv heard wonderful things about the patch from patients at work, this is one of our most popular form of birth control, the ortho evra patch seems to work great, and disregard any things u hear on tv about it. i would strongly recommend this method, and we've also had no problem with anyone's falling off. Also my coworkers sister had no side effects besides her chest size increasing a cup.

Does the patch have negative long-term effects of bone density?

Side effects and health risks.
Side effects of NuvaRing may include vaginal infections and irritation, irregular vaginal bleeding, headaches, breast tenderness, weight gain or loss, nausea, vomiting, bloating, decreased sex drive (libido) and depression. Women who use the vaginal ring may be at a slightly increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots. If any of these characteristics describes you, don't use the vaginal ring:
Age 35 or older and smoke
A history of cardiovascular disease
A history of breast, uterine or liver cancer
A history of blood clots in the legs or lungs
The vaginal ring doesn't protect against STDs.The most common side effects of the patch are skin irritation, headaches, breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, bloating, decreased sex drive (libido) and depression. Women who use the patch may be at a slightly increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots. Users of the patch are exposed to higher levels of estrogen --- about 60 percent greater --- than are users of contemporary birth control pills. Increased exposure to estrogen may increase the risk of side effects, but that has not yet been demonstrated.
If any of these characteristics describes you, don't use the patch:
Age 35 or older and currently smoke
A history of cardiovascular disease
A history of breast, uterine or liver cancer
A history of blood clots in the legs or lungs
The patch doesn't protect against STDs.Also.. Most unintended pregnancies occurred in women weighing more than 198 pounds, suggesting that the patch may be less reliable in women above this weight.

The ring can't get lost inside. It does fall out sometimes but it's more of an annoyance than anything else.

Actually, according to my nuva ring info, you can go straight from the other types of bc to the ring, and it's not a big deal. Also, I've been on the ring for about five months now and I can't feel it at all. the only time you can feel it is when it's about to slip out, and my boyfriend says he can't feel it when we have sex.But yeah, I agree the website doesn't help much.so yeah, good luck.
