Java... I swear you're like the smartest person on this board... I've fallen in love... WHERE have you been all my life??

An Obama Presidency would be a disaster!!

I don't think the people you're referring to think that his experience caused the poor performance. The point is that just because someone has a lot of experience doesn't mean that they will be good. Unless, of course, they say experience is a bad thing, which would make them, to put it bluntly, stupid. If experience was a bad thing, we'd be voting for someone who is horribly uneducated in almost everything.

EXPRIENCE?
fuck me!
ok, all you sub-30s tell me about the cold war!
I was a little boy and scared of nuclear war and I didn't even live in one of the countries that might start it!the whole world needs leaders that were born post-WW2 and who weren't politicaly bashed and tainted by the cold-war
hint....
Communism is not your enemy
Islam is not your enemy
Progress is not your enemyAmerica's growth is stunted by it's concervatisism

what you don't see is that america is one of the most repressive states in the world. Not THE most, but one of the most.
-
i really don't mean to make a blanket judgement of the people, just a view of the government. The patriot act is a fine example of how America has become exactly what it claims to oppose... totalitarian removal of civil liberty in the name of the "good of the nation"take a good hard look at where your government is headed and compare it to what you were told to fear of communism

Since I didn't actually read the whole thread (me + political conversations end poorly on a2a) are ya being sarcastic hon? :P

no, I'm dead serious! lol I was also speaking in general.

Also, Communist countries do not have the right to free speech, the right to practice religion and etc. This is not true. Communism is in no way, shape, or form the cause of these lacks of right. They call themselves Communists, but that is not what they are. They are in a transition to Communism, which, thanks to human nature, will never be completed. Communism is a nice idea and all, but it can never be implemented in its true nature. The first government to call itself Communist was Russia. Thanks to Stalin and Lenin, the way in which Communism, or to be more precise, the transition to Communism, was that of a totalitarian form. Eventually, Russia was one of the two most powerful nations in the world. It's no wonder that countries that had large peasant populations and very poor treatment of them that they liked the idea of Communism. When looking for a way to implement this Communism what could be better than the first one to do it: Russia, one of the two most powerful nations in the world. Because of Russia's success at this time, countries that adopted the Communist name implemented their government in a very similar manner so that they too could prosper. Not to mention the fact that most of these countries already had a totalitarian government of some sort in the first place.

The Russian monarchy before the Bolshevik Revolution was an absolute monarchy, i.e. a dictatorship.

Oh good *huggles*

My mom said, "see where that lady is from, the people in Russia aren't very blessed with great harvest and food stocks like we are here in the U.S." Both Lenin and Stalin were nasty men. Stalin killied the Jewish in Russia just like Hitler.I should have been more clear apparently. When an outside country viewed Russia, it was seen as one of the two most powerful countries in the world. If it wasn't, then the Cold War wouldn't have happened. Sure, the common people suffered a lot, but that does not mean that they were not a very very strong country. Originally Posted By: A.W.Look at how Communism kicked out their monarchy for no reason. And the monarchy was kicked out for no reason? You might want to read up on the stuff leading up to the February Revolution. Bloody Sunday (1907): A peaceful protest by the common people against their current state caused by the government that prevented them from having enough to eat. What did the Tsar do? He ordered the military to fire on them. A similar thing happened before the February Revolution, but this time they did not follow orders and instead turned their guns on the Tsar. Their monarch was screwing them over for a long time like many monarchs have.

To AW: Satlin was a centrally atheist person, he dismanteled the idea of a religious government, and in the begining when Lennin was still involved, they did minutely help out the jewish people, A great Woman, Alicia Appleman-Jurman, a Jewish Woman fleeing from the Germans was awarded a High military honour in the Russian government. I'm not standing up for russia or stalin by any means, and certainly stalin and hitler rivaled each other in death counts, but Russias situation was a bit more complex then Germany's.To Cider: A country is only as powerful as the common people it stands on. A true legacy is only a legacy for longevity, which can only be possible with the peoples favor. Perhaps things could have been different under a Lennin rule, and not a stalin rule. Lennin had passion, and stalin wanted power.

Lennin had passion, and stalin wanted power. Except the times that these countries became Communists it looked like Russia would be a legacy from the outside. Less-developed foreign countries like Cuba wouldn't necessarily be able to see the state that the people are in, let alone realize that it would not be as much as a world power it had been for a while.I think it would have been better for Russia if Kerensky had remained in power and the October Revolution never happened. Lenin had passion and wanted power, and so did Stalin. Just because someone has passion doesn't mean he will be a good ruler (in the humane sense).

I don't think it was Jews specifically. I think that number is the number of people killed during Stalin's rule (in Russia, that is).
-
11 million people, he had more of an impact on everyone.
-
Oooh Okay, I have statistics now,Over all Hitler killed 11 Million people, most notably the 6 Million Jews,Stalin Killed/Lost twenty million in WWII/the time before that totaled. That doesn't sound right, but that's what all the research says =/ Sounds like too many people on both ends to me, I mean, how is anyone even still alive in Eastern Europe after that.Edit: Kinda makes Sadam look like a Pussycat
