On monday night I had the choice between an Elton John concert at the local auditoriun or Henry Rollins spoken word at a small concert theator... guess where I wasRollins deliverd just over 3 straight hours of thoughtful insight, rage, history and excellent humour on topics ranging from his travels to dangerous countries, his own musical carreer history, politics and the dangerous folley of asbsinence-only sex education.Aparently, Elton John delivered a lovely 2:45 of adult contemportary delight.

Henry vs Elton
-
Sounds like you made the right choice. Nothing like a little rage and insight to stimulate the synapse.Besides, I've heard adult contempo in large quantities actually kills brain cells.
-
For a minute there I thought you had actually chosen Elton John.
I wonder if an Elton John concert is considered a 'private enough place' to have sex. What do you think Scotty?
-
I don't know about Elton... I do know Nine Inch Nails was considered "private enough"...
-
Elton may be private enough... just not too inspiring!I know my goofy little sister was about ready to rush the stage and attack Henry though (just a wee bit of idle worship going on there)oh and you did NOT think I chose Elton you fibber. You know me better than anyone lol
-
Ha, Rollins is the shit, I love this bit he does on dating: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9S5-EB8dR8
-
Well, you're right, I didn't think you would choose Elton, but I did think maybe a little hotty talked you into going. Quote:I do know Nine Inch Nails was considered "private enough"... Scotty! NIN is great sex music too.
-
Yeah, didn't you tell me once that you flashed Trent or am I just dreaming. If you did, it's not quite fair that he got to see your girls and the rest of us just have to use our imaginations... but I guess that's why everybody wants to be a big rock star... live in hilltop houses, drivin' fifteen cars.
-
hell, I've flashed Trent!!!
oh,and there was this video I made once with NIN as the sound track.
-
Okay then, that means I have use my imagination with you... still isn't right.
How much do you sell copies of the video for?
-
I think I only have distribution rights on my solo works
-
And those go for how much? Now if we can just get you and Lish together to collaborate on a project we could really do something. My directing skills are up to the challenge, I think. I've got a good video camera.Reminds me of the porn blooper where the camera man got the money shot in his eye. Sometime close-ups can be hazardous.
-
now that idea sounds like more fun than I've had in years!! Quote:Reminds me of the porn blooper where the camera man got the money shot in his eye LMAO... actually Roc emailed that to me a few years back!
-
Yes I have flashed Trent......and Phil Anselmo. :eyes:
On to this video production. Scotty, I assume you will want us to do each shot multiple times in order to get it perfect for the movie.

The sad thing is that there was a time when this discussion would have gone in a completely different direction...back when the words "Elton John" and "adult contemporary" would never have been used in the same paragraph.
I finally hooked my turntable up the other night, and the first album to hit the thing was Rock of the Westies. Now that's some stuff.
I was in a coffee shop in Louisville a while back and they were playing some old Elton John...like Madman Across the Water or Don't Shoot Me or something...and it was amazing to me how much it fits right along with some of the better singer-songwriter stuff coming out these days.
Elton John in the 21st century...yawn
Elton John in the 90's...blah
Elton John in the 80's...decent pop music
Elton JOhn in the 70's...undeniably amazing -
Apparently Elton had an amazing show.
-
I'd never deny Elton's talent. He's just way to sedate for me. Back in the 70's, his flamboyance would almost put him in the category of "shock rock"Now, back in the 80's Rollins was with Black Flag; a hard hitting, dischordant, hardcore punk band. I'm sure no-one at the time would have predicted him touring solo with spoken word proformances at the age of 46. Hell, I'm not sure at the time if I would have predicted going to see it! lolHey Pink, I heard the same about the Elton's show. Apperently it was quite impressive.

I disagree, fuck people, I like elton john. Of course I alos like the stones, metallica, hard punk, old country, classical, and some gospel.Hows that fucking grab ya? the bad boy with long hair and leather trench coats that carries a gun and 2 knives and has totaled 4 motor cycles listens to gospel and classical and country...Theres good in all music, Im not so stupid as I once was that I dont listen to it because its uncool or Im only cool if I like a certain style of music and I cant ever look outside of that.theres good in all of it but not all performers in any genre are good, and indeed even in a performer not allof their songs are good. I dont limit myself like I did in high school and I dont bother turning it down when Im playing classical instead of metal in the car. Fuck people and what they think of me, I like elton john, he had amazing lyrics and great music, hes a talented mother fucker, and thats what matters tome, that I enjoy his shit. for fuck sakes I like johnny cash and allison krouse, I have the soundtrack to o brother where art thou and play it all the time, I listen to zevon, ( side note for you here damien, warren recorded a song he wrote with the immortal but dead Hunter S Thompson called its a whole different person when your scared)I make no apologies for my musical tastes. anyone that has a problem with me listening to what i like can lick my poop hole clean after an all night beer drinking contest followed by shots of jack.

>>>"...listens to gospel and classical and country...Theres good in all music..."
Hold on there just a minute podner.
Country!... country... Please, please qualify that statement tell me your talking about Johnny Cash or Hank Thompson or Bob Wills or the like. Please don't just say "country" and leave it at that.
Alan Jackson... Toby Keith... Christi Underwood... *shutters*
Lish I think I've come up with video I want to shoot with you and Mr. U. I've decided on like a pornographic music video.
I've thought about this from several different angles. first I thought something like the Dresden Dolls, Coin Operated Boy but that's not really my vernacular. So then I thought something more along the lines of Metallica, Enter Sandman or something with that same feel, something violent and scary and brutal yet erotic... that's really more my milieu.
What do you think are you up for the project?
-
I don't know if you will want me in the video after I admit this....I love country! I know, I know, I used to hate the stuff, but now it's all I ever listen to. hugs Alan Jackson and Toby Keith Help!
