I couldnt think of a subject so I got right to the point. How bad is pop for you? I drink a lot of it and just want to know how bad it is and what it can do if you drink a lot of it.
-
Pop = bad?
-
The main things that I can think of is that it doesn't hydrate you. It'll make you feel hydrated, but in reality you're getting nothing out of it. Pop has no nutritional value, no vitamins or minerals. It's basically just empty calories. I should know, cause I drink waayyyyy too much, but am trying to cut down.
-
yeah i drink alot of pop, actually my whole family does, its like water to us im trying to cut down and with knowing that im really going to stop drinking it. now i just need to find something else to drink hahaha

Pop = Bad.

Pop wont cause alot of harm if u drink it in moderation. I drink one can a day at the most. Then the rest is water, or juice, or coffee
-
Even diet pop?
-
i drink a lot, we always have cans and bottles of pop around in a couple days will finish off a 24 case :S its like an addiction... if its there ill drink it because i have nothing better to do
starting tomorrow im going to stop drinking pop and start drinking just water and juice i dont think it will be that hard well im hoping it wont be not
-
diet pop is a better leap from regular pop. If its possible try to stay away from pop. i would say one of each a day at the most
-
ahh!! I LOVE POP... .. I'm getting more into water though... i never used to be able to drink it but now i drink at least 2 L every day
-
o so do i. i wish it were healthy, id drink about a 24 pack everyday
-
You don't need to completely cut the pop out of your diet, but definitely try to cut back. It's void of nutritional value and doesn't hydrate your body as much as water does. But like anything, if you have it in moderation it's not a big deal. Non-carbonated diet pops without caffeine aren't bad, but there aren't many of those. Also, a lot of juices are just as bad as pop. Many of them have just as much or more sugar and they are just flavoured and void of nutrients. Look for juices without added sugar, and ones that aren't frozen cans or powders.
-
well I haven't had any pop today and right now im kinda thirsty but dont want water and dont have any juice that isn't frozen or powder I guess I'll try to like water

here wut pop does to u--dehydrate you-if ur in a sport its harder for u to breathe during workout/competition-makes u fat-increase chance of cancer (cause pop is acidic and the more acidic the more likely cancer cells can grow)-if it's diet, it does minor damage to ur brain-triples ur chance or bone fracture-bad for bones cause of the phosphorous-calcium ratiowell the list is endless, but one thing i know is that pop is BAD for u
-
In reply to: if ur in a sport its harder for u to breathe during workout/competition Not true, the caffeine found in pop actually increases your breathing ability if you have asthma. In reply to:increase chance of cancer (cause pop is acidic and the more acidic the more likely cancer cells can grow) This study you are refering to occured in 2004, and talked about the increased risk of throat cancer. This is due to the carbonation and acidity. Pop has not been shown to increase your overall risk of cancer. In reply to: if it's diet, it does minor damage to ur brain Never EVER heard of that. I must be the dumbest person in the world then.All these that you are listing, well most of them, have never been scientifically proven. They are all assumptions put out there but some doctors. If everything was true that a random doctor said once in a while then we wouldnt be able to eat or drink anything.

Yes that is very true lol.. i once heard a doctor said swollowing(sp?) your own spit can cause cancer.

I love the stories on the news where one day they said orange juice can reduce your risk of cancer one study shows. then next week it increases cancer shows another study. ive stopped listening to those stupid studies.
-
well I caved today, I grabbed one can and drank the whole thing under 10 seconds it was dr. pepper and tasted great all those studies are just fuuny because the opinions are constantly changing just like the orange juice thing haha

If you're trying to quit, you should just wean yourself off it slowly. Pop is just so convenient, ya know? Like today, I went to Dairy Queen with my friend (which I shouldn't be doing anyways, seeing as I'm trying to get in shape), my meal came with the pop. I've made it a habit just to grab a can out of the fridge and chug it down. I have been cutting down though, and I feel great.I don't know if I'm addicted to the convenience and taste, or the caffeine. Either way, I've actually gained weight since cutting back my pop consumption. I've been drinking 8 glasses of water a day, and went from 175 lbs to 182 lbs. Not sure how or why, but... Meh.
-
One pop a day is fine. I drink one regular pop a day at the most. I drink some diet pop, but i drink more gatorade and water. like i said its fine to drink it, just do it in moderation. Pop does cause obesity, i used to drink 4 cans a day when i was younger. I used to weigh 185 i think in high school, even though in 6'2". Now that i limit myself i weigh 165 at 6'2". just watch how much u drink, but dont not enjoy your life becuase of all these stupid studies they do.

I'm so damn tired right now, I think its because by now I have usually already consumed a few cans and had a couple glasses of pop from 2 litre bottles. I need to find some other source of caffine now
