Interesting article about sexual orientation/genes
-
How damned odd that you should post that.
I was looking for something similar tonight.
My Fiance's niece just decided to tell everyone shes gay.
She is only in HIgh school and maybe she is just trying shit out ?
But they all have freaked out about it and blame various people for encouraging it. Her moms brother is gay and they have known for years and years about him but now that its a child, grand daughter, niece, they decide to freak out.
Noone is really yelling or anything, just scared I think and worried and many phone calls about how they can fix her. I was trying to find some of that information to pass on to them along with the argument that maybe she is just testing strange watersf instead of making a permenant change.
At any rate, I thank you for posting something I have been looking for and will comment one more time about how odd the timing is. -
If you need anything science related ask me There is a lot of dispute about a 'gay gene'
-
Very interesting reading hun, thanks for posting that!
-
Cool I love this stuff!
-
We had to do an article on gay genes. The X chromosone thing.
-
Out of curiosity, what did that assignment involve more specifically? My understanding is that you wrote an article on the X chromosome and how it affects being gay. I'm just wondering because I find genetics interesing (woo, Science ) and that's kind of a strange topic to be doing in school. Especially in around your grade, (you're gr. 9 or 10 right?) Genetics is more commonly a grade 11 or 12 subject in science or more specifically biology.
-
I took biology in 9th grade, i think thats quite common. My school went that you had the choices of 9th grade: earth science, bio. 10th grade- anatomy and physiology, chem, oceanography 11th- chem adv. astro adv. geology, marine sciences 12th all of the above with genes and evolutionary studies.
-
I think I phrased it completely wrong since I was tired last night. \*Genetics is a weird topic to be doing in grade 9/10\* is what I meant to say.
-
Holy all that is holy! I wish my school had that sort of choice! The first time we did anything mildly genetic was probably gr 10 and then just knowing the names of the bases! We didn't have separate anatomy or oceanography or geology...we just had the typical bio stuff, stuffed into general bio courses starting gr 11. In 9 and 10 it was just general science. I feel so unprivilaged now.

Same thing here. Canadian curriculums usually lump sciences into Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Not sure how it is in most places in the US, but Java has nice selection. I'd have taken all sciences regardless though. Hate how that, and taking calculus and band leaves me with nothing other than sciences, math, english, social, and band in my schedule, but oh well. At least I have an 80 minute spare every second day after lunch this year (although no spares previously).Oceanography and geology were covered briefly in grade 10 general science (branches out in gr. 11 and 12 where I am) and somewhat in gr. 11 Bio. Some of that was also covered in junior high though (gr. 7-9). I find it so weird how Ontario names their courses Here it's: eg. Math 10, 20, 30, or in BC Math 10, 11, 12. But in Ontario it's like SF3450 (I know that's not correct, but your course system isn't nearly as simplified).

Yes, I am bringing up an old thread, for this:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/09/60minutes/main1385230.shtmlAn even BETTER article.
