I hate this time of the year. Not only do I have compound Pneumonia/Bronchitus, I sustained an injury to the testicles a few days ago. Any one who has been in high school knows of cup check season, the stupid practice of hitting your friends in the nuts with the back of your hand.So I sustained a rather bad injury from it (well, it hurt quite a bit at the time), but the pain subsided not but five minutes afterwords. I woke up the next morning, and it was quite painful, but only when I put pressure on it or put my legs straight together. I took my Ibuprofen for swelling, and some Vicodin for pain. This is my second day of injury, and it still hurts, though not as much. Not really a pain, just more of like...well it feels like I have a scratch or something on the left side of my penis. The left testicle has a slightly swollen area, and that testicle also seems "tight" (you know when you get cold, and the skin of the scrotum gets tighter?). Right now it kinda tickles, I know, weird. There is a lump to the left of my penis, but it is just the upper portion of the testicle. It feels hard (like swollen), but is definitely not twisted. If it were, it would be much more painful, and I would have felt the pain the first day it happened, since it would be a very painful situation.Anyhow, my question is this: I've seen Torsion (twisted testicles), but they don't look like that. Is it possible that the testicles are just swollen (since the skin is tight), and the small soft tissue next to my penis on the left is from that? Thanks for your help.

"Cupcheck Season" --HELP PLEASE
-
Hey Jack, Getting hit in the nuts is painful anyway you get hit. I don't know how hard you were hit, but if it is the same as it was when I was in high school, your buddy really nailed you hard. It sounds like it is just bruised. If they seem swollen put some Ice in a Ziploc bag and lay it on your crotch for a few minutes. It will get better. They also may look all swollen because they have retracted up...
-
Ahhh, that's called the sac-tap where I'm from. Nasty, nasty stuff.
-
But is it normal for them to be this swollen for this long? And also, it seems in the mirror that the left testicle is higher up than the right.
-
It's normal for one testicle to be higher than the other. But it's not good if they are still swollen and painful - that must have been a nasty hit. If it doesn't get better in a couple of days I think you should see a doctor.
-
I was hit on the 29th. On the 1st, the pain was so bad I could barely function without my Vicodin. It got much better today, the constant pain has given way to pressure pain (not contact, just pressure), and I'm taking Ibuprofen for the swelling. But the testicle feels much less spongy and loose then the other one, and is a bit higher. I was just thinking that it was the swelling, and since the testicle would have died by now if it were Torsion (methink, I'm not sure, but considering that Torsion results in complete cutoff of blood, it wouldn't take THAT long for the skin to die...it's been two days now, it would have already died), the best I can do is to apply ice one in awhile and continue on Ibuprofen.I just worry that I may have a rare form of Torsion or something that doesn't die as soon as normal, since I have such bad medical luck, but I'm afraid to go to the doctor.
-
Torsion usually becomes excruciatingly painful. Is there a school nurse you could see? Really the school ought to know - a bit of horseplay is one thing, but this was a potentially serious injury and a crackdown on "cupcheck season" is in order.
-
well torsion is bad usually if you dont go to ER right away youll lose that testicle.
-
Yeah, but I figure that if it was indeed Torsion, then it would have both been excruciating AND already started to die.Looks healthy to me, just swollen and kinda hardish from the swelling itself.
-
Ok, well good news. The swelling has gone down quit a bit, I took another Vicodin/Ibuprofen cocktail to help with it. The firmness is fading away, and the testicle is getting softer again, more like a normal one, so it 'aint dead. Phew, I was worried for a while there...
-
I wouldn't be surprised if you found blood in your semen.
-
Well so far I've found no blood AT ALL in my urine, but I haven't jacked off or anything. I wouldn't think that there would be semen in it...
-
_I wouldn't think that there would be semen in it... _
Huh? What is "it"? If you experience trauma to the testicle, there can be broken capillaries and minor bleeding/bruising which would find it's way out with the sperm.
-
I meant blood, sorry bout that. Yeah, I know, but this is major swelling, and if it had indeed busted some capillaries in the urethra, wouldn't it come out in the piss too?
-
The urethra doesn't go near your testicles, so your urine never goes near them.
-
I never said urethra, I said Testicles.
-
Sorry, misread that.Well, I have no problem with morning wood (besides the fact that I have it), but I haven't rubbed one out, so I dunno. As far as the swelling is concerned, it's gone down quite a bit, but it's still there.
-
Yo, It aint called sac-Tap anymore hehe its got a more barbaric name Sac-Wack!And yea i have been hit several times in the groin and had to go home once.
-
Y’all should let someone know what is happening on the field during cup check. The coaches should be held accountable for this horseplay. It is dangerous and should be curbed. I would say something to someone for sure. I would hate for one of you guys to be “Sac-Whacked” and injured to the point where you could become sterile and unable to father children…. This is some serious stuff here!

Well it's pretty swollen still, pretty firm (not as firm as it used to be), but the swelling has gone down significantly since I was first hit. I'm getting quite a bit of feeling back in it, and instead of just staying pretty much still, it's started to hang. am I still in good shape? Or do you think it's somewhat more serious?
