It's a very unique love story. It's based on a time when homosexual relationships were kept in secret because people were killed for simply being gay (not saying that still doesn't happen today but back than it was MUCH worse). This love tore these two guys apart inside. It's a very beautiful and yet tragic love story.

It was a joke... You know the slang when someone says.."That's gay"
-
Yeah not a real fan of it... can't imagine why...

The majority of films up for an award I hadn't even heard of, so I wasn't entirely bothered this year.

I think maybe a little bit on Jack's part - althought I really think it was more of an obsession. But with Ennis, I think he could have taken it or left it.What I think it did well was show the devastating effects that secrets and affairs have on people and their families, regardless of whether they are gay, straight, or Red Sox fans.It was a good movie. Touching. Great acting. But I didn't think it was a great movie. Munich - that was a great movie.Oh...could the book you're referring to be the book of Annie Proulx stories that was just released with Jake and Heath on the cover? I would have to say that it is worth the effort to track down the original short story and read it.

I seen it more that Jake and Ennis had GREAT love for each other, but because of society they had to hide their love. Jake just didn't care, and wanted a life with Ennis more than anything and willing to leave his family to do so. Ennis returned Jakes love but let society control how far he let himself express how much he loved Jake. Ennis also had a lot of internal conflicts about his love for Jake because of what he witnessed as a child (The gay couple that owned the ranch, if you remember that scene). Not to ruin the movies for those who haven't seen I will just say the ending truly expressed how much Ennis loved Jake.

Yeah, the ending sort of shows that Ennis wasn't totally callous and uninterested on an emotional level. I just don't think it was full-blown love with him. He wasn't nearly as emotionally invested in it as Jack was.I've had so many discussions about this movie. Not the political kinds of discussions. But discussions about theme and characters and plot arcs...that sort of thing. That speaks well for a film, I think. I think I should probably watch it again.

I think Ennis just didn't know how to express his love, not to mention I think deep down he thought the love was wrong. It wasn't until the end did he realize how much he truly loved Jake and how he didn't want to be without him.>That speaks well for a film, I think. I think I should probably watch it again. Absolutely! I plan on buying the film when it's released and have a "BrokeBack" viewing party at my house... you're more than welcome to attend.
