Ever since I started my period (when I was 13 I think, and I'm 19 now), my periods have been irregular. They used to come whenever they wanted, last as long or short as they wanted, and sometimes be very strange as far as actual bleeding. I mean, for example, I'd have a period in January and it would last 12 days, then I'd skip Feb. and Mar. and in April I'd have a 3 day period. Then I'd have a normal 7 day period in May. I'd skip June, July, Aug., and Sept. and have a 17 day period in Oct., skip Nov., have one in Dec....you get the point. That's how it was with me for every year of my period until recently. I have had a period every month since last Octoboer, but all of them have been at least two weeks long, and one even lasted 22 days. I just had a period lasting 19 days, and the last day of that period was on Marc. 2. It's March 8 and I've just noticed bleeding again! So I guess what I'm wanting to know is...why are my periods being weird like this? Am I regular now (because I have them monthly) or is something else wrong? My mom wants me to go to a clinic to be on birth control, but I have NO MONEY and she doesn't have any to spare either. Literally NO MONEY, my next four or five paychecks are already tied up in future payments. So how can I get birth control without money?Sorry about that long explanation. I hope someone has the patience enough to read it and respond as soon as possible. Thank you!

There should be free health clinics in you area that should be able to help you with birth control which something you should look into to help regulate your periods. My sister did the same thing you're doing, but believe me, it's not normal. She went to a free clint in our are and was put on BC to regulate her periods and it has worked wonders for her. You need to see a doctor soon hon.

I know I've been needing to see a doctor for a while now. The first and only time I've seen a doctor I was told that I had Polycystic ovary syndrome or some such thing, but they never put me on any medicine or anything and i got a huge bill for about $900, just for them to tell me something i pretty much already knew. Anyway, that has discouraged me from going to ANY doctor.
How do you go about finding a FREE clinic? I mean, who's willing to do anything for free?

Most places have something like "family planning" that are free.

My periods were like that.. once i remmeber having my period really light for maybe 3 days.. then not having it for 4-5 months.. i was terrified!! I went on Alese (birth control) and now it comes on a regular basis

Are you in school? Schools have health insurance plans. You really do need to see a doctor again and have tests run. You may not have PCOP. You could have something else going on. A good doctor isn't going to put you on birth control right away without finding out the underlying problem first.
