Anyone know anything about creating pictures from particular scenes in video? I have a lot of good pictures that I could get from videos I've taken on my camera (mpeg format) but I don't know how to take particular clips from them and make them into pictures. I've been meaning to ask a friend of mine who does a lot of video editing, but I keep forgetting. If anyone could give me some info on how to do it (without an extra program that I need to pay for) that would be great. I have a few different video editing programs I can use although I'd need to check the other computers to see specifically what's I have.

Could you check which software you use please? Any decent package should give you the ability to create still images from video but the method can vary with each program. But if you want just a print, last time I checked (which was a while ago) Quicktime has the ability to print whatever frame you pause it on.

On the same not (and not to distract from Rob's question), what kind of software can I get to capture movie clips from a dvd onto my hard drive to use in power point presentations?

My cyberlink Power DVD player does it.
You take the screen cap, open paint or another program paste the image, save it, and wala!

Does that just capture pictures, or does it actually capture scenes?

it gets whats on the screen at the time, but if you want a whole scene you can take one after another after another.

Getting clips from movies can be hard. You can either capture it with an editing program and connecting your dvd player to your computer. Or, you could get Video Vault and DVD Decrypter. The only problem with this is that Video Vault costs money so you need to find a crack, and DVD Decrypter was made illegal in January. But to solve these problems and to help guide ya through it (should you choose this way) you can just PM me.

I have Media Player Classic, it works great for image shots, just pause movie and under File, you can save the image as a snapshot. Just type in Media Player Classic in your search and download. this program is so simple that it does not need to go under Program Files. Make sure that you download codecs like FF Show also. Good luck.
