There is nothing that magically makes pain go away, nothing to make it all easy to put aside and not be forced to deal with it.Nor, should there be.

My mom died of cancer. Yes I was sad and wish she was still here. She would have been a great grandmother, yet she only got 5 years to spend with them. I'm sad that my kids don't have her around but life goes on. The sun will rise and fall every day, regardless of who is living or dead. You can be sad and that too with time, will pass. There is nothing to feel guilty about though. Don't obsess over this, it won't do you any good. The only thing you can do is try to be a good person and appreciate the time you do have on this earth with people you care about.

It's a great shock the first time that someone you know well dies. Before then death is something you know about in your mind only; it's only when you first experience it really, that you see it fully in its horror. It's normal to feel guilty, even if you did nothing wrong: it's normal to feel you could have done things a lot better, and of course it's true that we all do things less than perfectly. You can't change the past, but you can try to use what you have learnt to do better next time. Having made that decision, try to let the past go, forgive any past mistakes, and look to the future.

I know how you feel, perfectly. My father died of leukemia when I was 9, and it was devastating. I wish I could tell you there was some trick to getting it over quicky. But there isnt.
You have to deal with it as best you can. I thought that no matter what, this was something that I would not get by. althought I dont believe Time heals everything, i think that time can soften some pain.
I am sorry about your loss, and I hope you are able to deal with it as best you can. If you want to talk anytime, PM me.
Take care.
