Sorry for starting a new thread but I couldnt find one for this specifically.Every few years I get an outbreak of Eczema and can treat it quite well with a Betnovate cream. But in the last few years these outbreaks have been becoming more frequent (Im 21). I have heard that certain methods including diet could help to reduce it from even starting.Does anoyone know if this is the case and if so do they know what types of things i should be getting more/less of?

Eczema

Eczema covers a lot of different skin disorders, with a lot of different causes. The word is effectively just a synonym for "dermatitis". Even eczema that responds to Betnovate cream doesn't narrow it down a lot - the manufacturer's information says "Betnovate preparations are indicated for the treatment of eczema in children and adults, including atopic and discoid eczemas, prurigo nodularis, psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis); neurodermatoses, including lichen simplex, lichen planus; seborrhoeic dermatitis; contact sensitivity reactions; discoid lupus erythematosus and they may be used as an adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in generalised erythroderma."Now some of those different sorts of eczema could, perhaps, be affected by things like diet - but which have you got?

ah, will try and find out and will resurrect this thread when I do.

You could also consider seeing a dermatologist and getting some advice from someone who really knows well what they are talking about. Among many other medical conditions, skin problems are hard to diagnose without actually being able to observe what it looks like and having a greater knowledge of skin problems.

i get eczema every winter, it's aweful!!you can try using a mild soap with no scent etc to start with. dont shower more than once a day.i'd advise you to see a dermatologist or even a gp.my derm give me cortisone tablets and cream to use and they take it away completely, but you have to be carful how you use these things thats why it's important you see a doctor etc.
